Title: Trying to download AH,"unable to open terrain file",...

  Downloads update, states above message, shuts down installation.I may not have a current account,..could that be the problem?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Try downloading the update from the downloads section of the webpage vice the auto updater, and see if that helps.

Sounds like a corrupt download.  What version are you trying to update from?
