Title: Chi. Bears: 108 yd. FG return for TD
Post by: DiabloTX on November 12, 2006, 10:14:35 PM
Devin Hester (R) ties the NFL record for longest play.  Damn...that was a helluva play.  This game has been pretty damn good.

How do you return a field goal?

If it's short you grab it and run it back.  End zones are 10 yards deep?

I'd think the FG kick would have had to be deflected by a defensive player in order for it to be returned.

Nope.  Blocked or caught it can be returned.  Hester caught the kick which was well short, looked like he was gonna down it, the NY players sorta slacked off, and Hester took off, from 8 yards deep in his own end zone.  Was a beautiful fake on his part.

It was a sick return...Only problem is that foxsports sucks for fantasy, and they are not registering this score for my Chicago defense, and I need it to win a game in my pay league!

Stick to selling artificial grass.   Any MAN knows that a "short" FG is a "live ball".

I'm pretty sure it WON'T be credited to the defense. A kick is a change of posession play, as soon as the other team touches the ball, they are no longer on "defense". Had they fumbled the snap and Chicago run it in, it would be credited to defense. It should be credited to special teams or offense depending on how the league keeps score.

Best part is, he tied the record set last year by Bears cornerback Nathan Vasher.
