Title: AH is not using the refresh rate I set in WinXP
Post by: Karnak on November 03, 2001, 03:42:00 AM
I am having a weird issue here.

I set the refresh rate to 85 hz in the display properties for 1280x1024 32bit and then launch AH.  The refresh rate drops to 60ish until I click on the Video option in AH. Once I am in the Video options the refresh rate is 85 again.  When I exit the Video options it drops back to 60 and is 60 in the game.  The only difference that I can tell is that the AH program is running in a window when you are in the Video options.

Everything here is in 1280x1024 32bit.  I tried other settings but there was no change. I tried running AH in the various compatability modes and there was no change.

I am getting a frame rate of about 50 in the game.

AthlonXP 1800+ (1533mhz)
Abit KG7
512mb PC2100
Geforce2 GTS 32mb with the nVidia WindowsXP 21.83 drivers
Soundblaster Live! Platinum 5.1
Tekram 390U2B/W Wide SCSI
WindowsXP Professional

Anybody have any ideas?

Use this program "nvreffix" (http://www.guru3d.com/files/pafiledb.php?PHPSESSID=&action=viewfile&fid=170&id=14) to fix this issue.

It seems tha Win2000 and WinXP set the default refresh rate for nVidia cards to 60hz when not working in a window.

Hey thanks!  :)

I can't play AH under XP because of the lack of XP compatible software for the Saitek X36, but just the same, this has always annoyed me about NVidia drivers under 2k/XP.
