if the HQ tile was 2 (or 4?) times the size, and the damage percentage was linked to what was down, it would be much better than the current all or nothing method.
25% damage (ie under 75% on screen) = just friendly darbar down.
50% damage (under 50% on screen) = both darbars down.
75% damage (under 25% on screen) = friendly dot dar down.
90% damage all dar down. (this would take a massive mission and very unlikely....)

you'd need like....16 lancasters in one formation to do that

and thats the whole point
its doable, but takes team work... not just one person should be able to ruin peoples day....
and it shouldnt be just 1 person that gets the HQ destoryed message either...

You cannot take the HQ down by yourself now. Unless you up multiple sorties from close by.

i wasnt saying that i just think the 100% or 0% method we have now is rather lame....
however a lancaster with 14x1000 (x3) has enough ord for HQ in one pass..... trust me ive done it ;)

I agree with your first statement. Make it more like the old Hq, but harder to kill...

I like this idea. More team work. More team work = more fun, and just me it makes a different in the game play. In WW2 it took hundreds and sometimes thousands of bombers to just try and hit one little area. It shouldn't take one formation of lancasters to destroy one building that takes up one block, it should take at least "QOUTE BY *UH*" "you'd need like..... 16 lancasters in one formation to do that" Just think theres 15 other bombers that could be destroyed and not you on these long flights, and you got more guns = better defense, and you get to do team play and see hundreds of bombs fall on one area being blown away to nothing but dirt.

According to the help file for the Terrain Editor, the more of the city buildings that are down, the longer the radar will be down when the large HQ building goes down. It uses the percentage of buildings down as a multiplyer, so the thing to do is drop all the city buildings first, then drop the HQ building.

yes we used to do that when HQ was a valid target.
thing is all they have to do is drop like 5-6 supplys on it and its fixed that can be done in less than 5minutes.. and that doesnt matter how much the city is down.
so to kill the HQ proper we had to:
1: kill city
2: kill troop factory
3: kill local troop supplys near HQ
4: kill HQ
;)

Agreed turn the HQ into a serious target.. one that bombing will be worth and defending also.
Killing the HQ should seriously limit ones ability to make organized war.
How about hq destroyed no dar and no vox.. and all down for 1 hr no matter how many c-47's you fly over there

yes...but you'll have to be making circles...but with the 4,00lbs or "Cookie" bomb, it only takes like 6 lancasters in a line to take it out
-
requires team work? well rooks have no chance.....unless its a rare day that we DO work together
life as a rook is fun

nope, 1 pass....14x 0.05 gets all the bombs out fast enough to all hit the target.
