An interesting side note:
IBM had Boeing's contract for all our computing hardware for years and years. About 3 years ago our IT org dumped IBM for Dell due to alot of problems, primarily the Stink Pads. My work laptop and personal use home laptop are bullet proof. Never had a problem with either, and our personal use Dell laptop is 4 years old.
IBM never gave Boeing employees a discount. Dell does. I saved $1,000.

Can't comment on the price since I build my own and don't follow the PC market but I do know you'll be upgrading that 100GB drive pretty soon with all your picture taking.
My 160GB drive was much too small and I had to add another 300GB drive to keep up.
