Title: Frame Rates

I'm having problems with my frame rate.  In the main version of AH I can get up to maybe 40 if less than 50 people are playing. If there is more people in, then I can only get about 20.
In the Beta version the best I can get is 10.  This makes if very difficult to controll the aircraft, and pretty much limits me to bombers.
If anyone has some suggestion I am in need of some.  I was thinking of buying a new Video Card, but there very expensive.

My fps continued to drop (Geforce 256) as each new iteration of the game came out. Finally when my monitor went bad I took the occasion to sneak past the dragon lady a geForce3 card (Visiontek OEM version) which I found for $289 + shipping = $310? at my door. Went from 2300 (3dmark2000 test) to 5400 with gf3.... happy now  35fps in smoke..IN smoke... worth it...

Thanks Maddog, GF3 is what I have been hearing from most people.  I found it on the net for 4+hundred, still looking for better price.

The ATI Radeon 64MB card is also used by a bunch of people in AH, including myself.  It's a bit less expensive and can turn solid framerates in AH (though maybe not quite as high end as the GForce3).  I can get 100 frames/sec at alt, and only ever get down in the high 30's in thick smoke.

Skurj, I actually have several custome gunsights, how does that effect it?

I noticed that im now showing 3856k available Video memory with about 30-35 framerate in the normal version.
I have 1665k of available memory with 10 frame rate in the Beta version.

I have decided to purchase the Geforce 2 64mb Video card. If anyone is using this card please let me know what u think.

Soda. what are your system specs? I top out at 75 frames with my radeon 64 ddr. I done alot of tweaking and I cant get it any higher. I use the beta & 1024x res at 32bit . My desktop is also at that res.

Sunking, the reason you are topping out at 75 fps is because your monitor refreshes at 75 Hz.  :) If you increased the refresh rate it could go higher, but there really isn't a point to it.  (75 fps is smooth as glass.)

I used control c to turn off the clutter and got frame rate jump from 38 to 78 I don't know if this will work for everybody but it did for me
