Had this problem a while back. then it seemed to go away for a while. Now it seems to be back again

Prior to the error I am seeing a bunch of warnings that

Oops.
Wrong forum
Wont let me delete it.
Curious as to why?
In any event. Skuzzy Please kill as I reposted it in Hardware software where it belongs

Your ISP is refreshing the lease on the IP address. Nothing unusual about that and it can cause a disco depending on how fast they can get the DHCP server to respond.
If the DHCP server response takes too long, a disco will happen. There is nothing that can really be done about it, unless your ISP changes its release/refresh time in the server.
It is the nature of dynamic IP addresses and probably for about 50% of the discos that happen in a game.

when i was an ISP d00d, i could assign a permenent IP to subs that asked for it nicely.
most of the subs that asked for it were teh gamerers...btw if you talk to your ISP d00d, ask them for me if "sub" is short for subscriber or subnormal intelligence.
i never got the skinny on that one...:O :O :noid :noid :noid :noid :noid

Ok I admit it, I live in your computer right between the little square green thing and the long brown thing, and every time a piece of dust crosses me I call the network connection and he does what I want since we both go to the power supply for dinner all the time LMAO.

Thats awfully binary of you Julie.
It will be a close race all the way with the maximum lead at a steady 1 point.

From the command line... IPCONFIG /RELEASE... and then IPCONFIG /RENEW
takes a few seconds then for DHCP to give you a new address lease
Never tried it with an ISP based DHCP service though but assume it has to work because the "release" part is a command to your own computer after which it starts to broadcast to any DHCP server than can "hear" it until it gets a reply. If no reply comes it gives itself an APIPA address in the 169.x.x.x range. I replied to the thread in the computer harware/software forum with the impression he had a local router leasing addresses via DHCP. Whatever, this reply was just to answer the "what's the command" question.
