I may have narrowed it down a little.

If you shoot at open ocean, you get the splash. But as soon as a cv group is in the area it stops splashing. Perhaps something with the group?

same here.  If I aim close to shore, I see splashes,  aim out about 200-300 feet from shore no splashes, whether I'm pointed toward a CV or not

Turn up detail slider will see splashes

Sliders have been and are set 2/3 to the left for more detail.

That isn't the problem since I was always able to see splashes prior to this release.

I set detail high, still no splashes.  I could see splashes from the CV guns shooting towards the base but none from the shore battery going out.

I had to crank the TOP slider most the way to the left to see splashes.

Try it.
