after a couple of trouble free years--
wouldn't boot the other day ended up having to take second dimm out.
it will not boot with memory in any additional slot other than 0
tried switching dimms around and no change -they both read correct individualy
so now I am stuck with only 1gig ram... is it safe to say the board is on its way out ? or maybe just something failed particular to the memory slots/chipset and I can limp along for a bit yet?
my guess is there is no way to say for sure ... but I figured 'd ask you guys anyway
ram is corsair xms3200 cl2
1024 x 2

did you swap the memory sticks ?
did you take it off of quick boot and let it go thru the booting memory check ??
was it enabled in "dual" mode and somehow it may have switched to single ?
it could be a bad slot too .

dual sing channel mode seems to be automated .. the bios has no setting for it but when i initialy went dual channel mode it recognized it on boot and now with 1 dimm it reads single channel mode
there are 3 dim slots 0 an 2 "create dual channel " whereas 0 and 1 would make it single channel
like i said any dimm in other than 0 now causes a failed boot:cry

bad slot or wrong type of ram
i notice your using CL2
my a7n8x w/ the 2500+ barton cant use CL2 it uses the standard xms ddr .
that may be the problem ..wrong type of ram if you just installed this stuff . if youve been using it for awhile then id say its a MB problem .

yep, its had been in there awhile(close to a year I think)
thanks for your help tho.. the trick now is to find a decent replacement board still in stock...I'm not ready for a big upgrade just yet
