Look what I found flying almost over my home town
38*30*26.29N 89*06*32.83 W
Ever see an airliner have a rainbow reflection?
-
isn't there a online 3d imaging version without the download?
-
I think so
-
its a ghost plane filled with the souls of the d****d?
-
Neat find!
-
I never seen a shadow like that before, thats pretty awesome to me
-
It's an artifact of the fast moving object.

Hijack/Offshoot Alert!
Speaking of Google Earth,
Last year I made a KMZ file that shows where 200+ of my Anchorage Alaska high school classmates from 1984 now live. We’ve spread out throughout Alaska and the US. We even have classmates in Norway, Sweden, Singapore and Cananada. It’s kind of a cool sociology experiment. Here’s the download page:

I also made one of the 28 places that I have lived in: Alaska, Oregon, Hawaii, Colorado and Ohio. Here’s the download page:

I'd just say it's 2 swa planes on the same airway at different altitudes going the same direction on their way to Chicago MDW.
J71 runs N/S right there past the ENL VOR. There are the blue and orange schemes so you know it's two separate jets. Here's a high-altitude chart overlay over the area.

Kewl, here's a screenshot:

Heres another one with a contrail behind it

All of the mid-air shots of high-speed aircraft have this artifact. It is not two planes flying the same VOR.
-
There's one in Hermann, Missouri that I'm too lazy to look up right now. Was a wtf moment when I first saw it though.

I don’t know. Look at the direction of the shadows from the row of trees; it’s the same direction as the rainbow plane above the real one… Also look at how the stripes on the farmland cut through the plane, especially through the tail. I think it’s a shadow on LSD.

Check the box that says "google earth community", says its a 737-300
EDIT - Found a goon

Could it be a glory?

Why's the fuselage blue and the wings more 'natural' metal? Even the tail has an orangish tint to it where there would be orange stripes. To me it looks like an out of focus airliner.
I'm not up to snuff on the ins and outs of satellite photography

Here's a good collection of world icons that I give to my students. Can you name them?

Yes, that's true. It's a motion ghost. The satellite takes two pictures, one black and white (the image itself) and another that's just colors. Google 'ghost aircraft' and google earth to see plenty of matches.
-
looks like the camera choose to give out the light spectrum instead of a shadow...
-
im with chairboy on this one. seen it before.
something to do with high altitude photos, light refraction or something .
definitely the 'shadow' of the plane.
two planes would show in the same light/colour no matter the different altitudes, as far as the camera thinks, they are both WAAAAAY down there.
-
some light refracted off a cloud of swamp gas, i guess.

2 747s T/O at frankfurt (http://www.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&rls=GGGL,GGGL:2006-27,GGGL:en&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wl&q=)
-
as well all should know, black is made up of complimentary colours.
could just be possible that the shadow has enough time to refract into its seperate complimentary components between earth and satelite.
the shadow shows mostly blue and traverses the spectrum to a rich orange.
blue and orange make black? not sure, and not sure why we can see greens and yellows..... but im sure i am correct somewhere here.
-
Could be the defraction of the light as it has to pass through the atmosphere on the way back up.
-
Definitely an Alien craft shadowing one of our airliners.. umm and swamp gas
