Was working fine with frame rates of 40 to 50 in 1024 x 768 in 32 bit color.
Went away for the weekend and logged on Sunday night. Now it is topping out at 23 and drops to about 8. Like a roller coaster.
Pent III 450
MS-6163 pro w/440bx
128 ram
I have reinstalled the drivers for it and reinstalled dx7a. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) Still doing it.
Suggestions?
Also, to save your joystick settings in HA you just save the files in the "settings" dir right? I wanted to know this before I reinstall AH. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I haven't really noticed any significant drop in frame rates in the past few days. I know that in some games, the condition of connection can adversly affect the 'smoothness' of the game. You might want to try the game in offline mode to see if frame-rates go up to isolate the problem.
As far as I know, all player-specific configs are in the settings folder.

Thanks duck, but it is the same in offline mode. I should have mentioned that. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
Thanks, I have the settings folder saved. I will try a reinstall of AH.

That is odd.
I know that the driver recommended as the best one for that card for AH (Direct 3d)is not the newest one. It is the 4.01 driver I believe, the one that has the overclock utility.
Have you run the diagdx (or some such) utility that comes with DX7a?
Try re-seating the card, too. I can't imagine what would change while you were gone that would cause that frame rate drop.

Did anything else change on your system before this started happening?

No I had not reseated the card gunthr, I will remember that though. Thanks! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
No had not changed anything pyro, one night it was fine, two days later it was not. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
I ended up using a Win 98 on another drive that was around. It took care of that problem, but then the stick spiking problem came back and I still could not fly. I played with the CH drivers uninstalling and reinstalling them along with the Win 98 game controllers. Finally got it to work without spiking by using "just" the Win 98 drivers. I will try flying today, (off line is working) but seems to be an endless loop of problems.
Working now though. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
