Crime of the Century
Now they're planning the crime of the century
Well what will it be?
Read all about their schemes and adventuring
Its well worth a fee
So roll up and see
And they rape the universe
How they've gone from bad to worse
Who are these men of lust, greed, and glory?
Rip off the masks and let see.
But thats no right - oh no, whats the story?
Theres you and theres me
That cant be right
Sitting at the computer with my iPod listening to Supertramp. I am surprised just how good they sound decades later. You could swear this stuff was just recorded yesteday. . . And album after album of great songs.
This is one of those bands it would be hard to pick out a favourite album or song.
Favourites?

If it weren't the lead singer sounding like nails being scratched down a blackboard to my ears I'd have been a huge Supertramp fan...I'll take the long way home.

Excellent music, I'll agree about them sounding just as good now. Love that sound.

regarding supertramp my opinion is expressed in the following quote, MT commenting on his dislike for steely dan, "I'd gladly stub a toe running to change the station every time I hear one of their songs about to play on the radio".
-
Opposite opinion here, - they're fabulous IMHO.

"Breakfast In America" 1979, was my first Supertramp album and for me is the best.

They were ok, but not a favorite of mine.
But I remember in high school, most of the girls loved Supertramp.

Thinking back to the 80's I can remember this city was Supertramp crazy. That band would come and sell enough seats each time to sell out 3 and 4 days of consecutive shows. (outdoor summer concerts)
I guess it's not just that I consider them to be a top notch band for lyrics, writing and performance, but the nice thing is all the memories it stirred up for me.

Supertramp ... can't figure out why some would like this music. Kind of like Dire Straight. It might be because it's overplayed for years and years on oldies radio, a remanance of the past when owning the tape made you look cool... I guess.
