Title: F4U material files not working
Post by: Greebo on November 21, 2006, 03:01:03 AM
In the skin viewer I managed to get a reasonable semi gloss effect for an all dark blue F4U-1A I'm working on by creating a material file. However when I try this skin in-game, the material file has no effect on the skin, it just stays matt.

As a test I tried really glossy material files in this and the other F4U versions and they all stayed matt.

I don't know if the material sliders in the skin viewer *save* that info, or if you have to go and edit materials.txt manually with the final numbers that the skins viewer shows you. I'd double check the actual file and see if it changed.

Don't think any of the materials files are working, just checked -

Metal Spit V
Metal Spit IX
Metal Seafire

All look flat now, previoulsy they were shiny.

Greebo - If you get a spare moment see if you can get any new spit skins to show up offline. Can't even get them listed in the hanger!!!!!

Thanks.

Another one - Can't seem to add a Spit skin I am doing so I can view it offline.
Tried folder names -
spit9_1
and
spit9_8 (next in line so to speak)

Nothing shows up in the hanger

Ditto for the Spit 16.

Kev, apart from the default ones, the only Spitfire skins I can see in the hangar are the two I did. There are others listed, but they just show the default skin when selected.

BTW I did put the material files in manually. Checked everything several times before posting, I've reported "bugs" before which were my screwups.
