I have tried to load one of the alternative gunsights but it won't appear. I picked a sight, copied it to Aces High/Program/Sights and rename it p51d but it doesn't load up - what am I doing wrong?

Make sure you didn't delete the .bmp extension.   it should be p51d.bmp for the mustang.
Look in the settings directory to see how each plane is named.
 Hope this helps   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

CC, it's probably what Rocket said.  You need to keep the .bmp extension.

Ok - just checked and the file definitely has the right extension (checked by changing view options in folder options)
I even renamed default.bmp to default.old to see if it would throw an error but it loaded fine with usual cross hairs.
Am I looking in the wrong location ?i.e.changing wrong file - I am working in AcesHigh/Program/Sight

				The path to mine is

 Program Files/HTC/Aces High/sights

under there I have historical sights for each plane
 109f4.bmp
 109g10.bmp
 109g2.bmp
 109g6.bmp
 190a8.bmp
 F4U1C.bmp
 F4U1D.bmp
 N1K2.bmp
 p51.bmp
 spit5.bmp
 spit9.bmp
 typhoon.bmp

Email me if you want me to send you a copy of the historical p51d sight to see if you have a corrupt copy or something.

Oh 1 other thing to check
when you get to that folder click view at the top of the window... Then go all the way down and click Folder Options

When there click on the VIEW tab
Now look for the "Hide file extensions for known file types"  Make sure it is UNCHECKED.
what may be happening is you have the file named  p51d.bmp.bmp by accident and the game won't pick that one up.

That is the only thing I can think  of.

				Thanks Rocket !!!!
You pointed me to it by the path - I have two installations by accident. When I originally installed AH I put it on my E drive to keep it away from my main programs etc but when I was happy with it and did a clean install of windows next, I had put it in c/programs. I had forgotten this and was busy fiddling with the now defunct e drive installation - DOH !!!
Now I have changed proper program all is well.
 thanks again

Hey Rocket, where did you get all the different Historical sites?  I have a few, but not that many.
