Title: Military Veterans Please Help Me (espec. USMC)
Post by: Masherbrum on November 21, 2006, 05:17:22 PM
I am trying to acquire a picture of my Grandfather (USMC in WWII)

I call Parris Island and speak to a lady.

I provide her with:

Name:  Charles A. Freuchtel
Service #: 1000557
Platoon: 494
6th Battlion

3 Drill Instructors

Now she needs to know the Month, Day and year he graduated boot camp?!
My grandmother is 85 (the memory TENDS to slip after a awhile), and says he went to Guam from Boot Camp (July 21st, 1944 was the landing).

Can ANYONE help me?  I feel as if she didn't want to do anything to help me.

Not much help here except my Father-in-law was a Marine in that same landing. He was wounded on Guam.

Electronic Army Serial Number Merged File, ca. 1938 - 1946 (Enlistment Records)

World War II Army Enlistment Records, created, 6/1/2002 - 9/30/2002, documenting the period ca. 1938 - 1946

http://aad.archives.gov/aad/series-description.jsp?s=3360&cat=all&bc=sl

using this I was able to find enlistment records for one of my grandfather's brothers and a cousin, but not his
