Title: How to use the push-to-talk mic while flying?
Post by: miraj on November 22, 2006, 11:31:29 AM
How does one use the push-to-talk mic while flying?

I have a Logitec USB mic and am a little confused about how to use it in flight .

A quick bit of advice would be much appreciated.

 Thanks

hold 'f12' to speak to people within a 10k range of you. if you're on the ground, only people in the same room as you can hear you (tower/hangar etc.)

you can tune your 5th radio box to a number of channels, and this tunable radio can be heard anywhere across the map, on the ground or on the air. you use this channel by holding 't' while you talk.

be aware that the f12 range vox has a 4 second time limit to stop people from hogging the airwaves, so if you have something long to say, break it up into segments, letting go of f12 and pressing it again to say the next bit :)

hope that helps :aok

Also you can type your name into the 5th radio box and push T to talk to yourself to check if it is working and how it sounds to others.

That, and some people just enjoy holding conversations with themselves. :D

Ive always used T to talk. One time I was in a fight and was hitting a joystick button I assigned for T by accident. Not only did the flaps not come down but I was using colorful language as to why they werent.

I program the key presses for both Range and VOX channels to one of the 4-way hats on my CH Fighterstick.

So, when I push the hat switch left I transmit on the Range channel, and when I push the hat switch right I transmit on the VOX channel.
