Ashes from the past for burgers for burgers of the future.

anyone watch the reunion?

Married With Children might be the all-time greatest TV series.
Then again, what about:
Carol Burnett Show (remember Tim Conaway and Harvey Korman?)
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
The Sopranos
Weed (actually too new with too little history for all-time consideration)
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Simpsons
I Love Lucy
Definitely different deliveries for different decades.

I remember sitting in the basement of our house, all the lights turned off except the dim glow of a Zenith black and white console in the corner, the voice saying "Do not attempt to adjust your television screen..."
The fear would rip through me like a branding iron through butter...but I drew closer, drawn in by curiousity and wanting to see if I could muster up courage to watch the whole episode without holding my trembling hands over my eyes and running over to hit the light switch on....
Outer Limits.
Those were the days of nearly wetting myself post-potty training.;)

Which triggers an even further recidivistic excursion into ... radio!
Inner Sanctum.
Some badly damaged still living something or other crashes into the house downstairs. Silence. Stumbling around, crashing around, then big zapping sound and howling and (we're told) house plunges into darkness as the creature somehow is fried by an errant refrigerator.
Until ... heavy steps ... slowly ... one by one ... unearthly low breathing and slobbering ... coming up the stairs toward us, the terrified listeners magnifying the monster beyond belief in our own private worst case imaginations!
Radio. Still listen to one occasionally in the car. And most the characters still look more vivid in the imagination than in reality.
Back to the thread: Twilight Zone. Yeah. Good recall. Karen Black with her narrow eyes like an old Saturn car getting forked by a doll running amok.
Never again did I ask, What's in the oven?

Ah yes, Trilogy of Terror. Scared the crap out of me when I first saw it at the ripe old age of 13. Still a classic.
Made for TV movies just aren't as good any more.
/me sighs

If you get to see the Carol Burnett Reunion on DVD (or someplace...), they recount the Tim Conway "Dentist" skit he did with Harvey Korman. That skit is absolutely classic, especially Harvey trying so hard not to crack up during it.

Murderers Row on CBS, Saturday nights when I was a teenager.
All in the Family
MASH
Mary Tyler Moore
Bob Newhart
Carol Burnett Show.
Only night my family would gather to watch TV and order pizza.
I don't know that an evening of TV has ever topped that line up.

it's time to play the music, it's time to hit the lights, it's time to get things started on the muppet show tonight!..

Gotta agree with Guppy, we even used the Bob Newhart show to get drunk on Saturday nights in college, take a drink anytime anyone said "Bob".
-
Muppet Show was great.
Only second to Firefly though.

"Hi I'm Darrel, this is my brother Darrell, and this is my other brother Darell."
Newhart was Monty Python on valium.
