The orange indicates testing, but does anyone know the story behind this bird?

I remember reading about this or seeing a TV program on it.  They were testing the seating set up for the Apache or something like that...

Edit:  I think it says it in that article in your second post...

"S-76 in the foreground evaluated the built-on nose-mounted single-seat cockpit"

Edit 2:  Here's another weird nose modification I remembered from a book.  Testing an F-18 nose on a T-39 Sabreliner

RAH 66 was canceled well over a year ago now...I live 3 miles from the Sikorsky Plant in Stratford CT, I was really looking forward to looking up and seeing the commanche overhead instead of the constant flow of blackhawks....(I see about 20 -60's a day on average).  I know a lot of folks who were assigned to the -66 program, and at the time of cancelation they were devestated to say the least.  Would have been an amazing helo.  I thought it was interesting to see the -66 was going to have a side stick cyclic.  oh well.  53K production should be starting up soon enough, so it will be a thrill to have the house literally shake as they fly over =)
