seems every first ping results in engine oil or engine death... even when the hole is in the wing.
also the 30mm is just a joke now... i made 10 o'clock to 4 o'clock and 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock passes on a formation of B26s... lots of sprites including large 30mm sprites nose to tail each time... they fly on unimpared, I take a really solid burst at 1k (and yes, it was a good one) I am suddenly in the tower

So don't get pinged.

Spread out shots rarely kill buffs.

Your pilot was hit.
What was the problem again?

I agree. If you keep moving around your shots arent going to hit very much maybe 50% of the time, and if you move around to dodge the gunner, he could be a very good gunner and then you cant get a shot at the bombers. If you fly straight then your dead. Come in from above or sneak up below them (only with a good engine) and hit them run like a mile away and repeat the process.

lmao kweasaa this aint my first picnic... I have been playing these games longer than most here (About 14 years now)... multiple 30mm hits on ONE pass should have been mission ender for that guy but i made 4 fast slashing passes, and because i didnt want to end up on his dead 6 it took awhile to set up the last 2 passes.
I dont doubt that a pilot wound was the result of his hit... but he should have been dead a few minutes before he got his shots to land. When you have 2x30mm abd 2x20mm plus cowl guns hitting this guy he should have been swiss cheese.

Do you have a film...?

Everybody has films of 10+ 30mm hits and no damage. Hell, it's even worse when you fly a 262. Last 262 sortie I flew I took on 3 B24s. I landed 7+ on one bomber, only to set it on fire. I landed a HELL of a lot more on another before it lost any parts or went POP. I landed 5+ on the last guy and ran out of ammo. RTB and just as I'm touching down he augers, or is shot down, or crashes landing.
30MM in this game are a joke. Totally.

Having just finished a bunch of 30mm gunnery practice using the LCG, I was very surprised to learn how much ballistics differ on the 30mm vs the 20mm and 15mm guns. Frankly, if you were seeing a lot of hit sprites at any distance at all, I'd say they were 15mm and 20mm hits and your 30mm was missing.
At many crossing angles, and at as little as 400m range, the 30mm LCG would pass before my reticle before the aircraft even appeared in the gunsite at all.
Given the slow speed of the 30mm round as well, if you are getting hits with 20mm after a .25 second travel time, the 30mm rounds are actually passing about 25m away (100m/sec speed difference in the rounds).

kill the pilot, not the plane. (ie HO them from a slightly high position)

hmm odd, i had 9 kill against a bish b24 mission the other day and still had over 100rds in one set of guns and 70ishrds in the other set. (starts at 180 and 120).
Aim at the pilot or wingtips. Engines on the b24 also catch fire after just 1 hit, so hit them there, then wait for them to blow up before you engauge again...... unless of corse you are desperate for kills and are flying dead 6 in a trail of green cons sprayying at him?
in this picture (http://www.adamjwebb.aquiss.com/Pictures/Aces_High/262_1.jpg) 2 hits was enough for this bomber. 1 hit on the first pass was enough for the first kill. Didnt get the 3rd cos a 262 buzzed me lol

rgr overlag... I have been flying the A8 mostly for a couple of years... I am confident of my hits and placement... I have in the past made single passes that took out the entire formation of buffs. (That seemed to me TOO much in my favor) but there are times that (for whatever reason) the 30mm is like throwing nerf rounds at a target. In 4 passes today I am sure of a minimum of 15 30mm hits. On B26s even in the fuselage alone this should have been devastating (2 hits I got were on the vert stabilizer!)
Mussie it is really hard to film after the fact... I am confident though that the hits were 30mm mixed in with the other gun sprites. I never use the canon until I am very close but I start with my cowl guns first.

One thing I've learned during my stay with MMOG's is that when people bring up something, its always the game's fault. It's never their own fault.
They never make mistakes regularly, they never exaggerate towards their own favor, they never misunderstand what's really going on... and for one, they never, ever HAVE ANY PROOF. Always.
Sooner or later, a guy with my cynical nature and critical mind comes up wondering if these guys were really seeing any UFO in the first place, instead of keep mixing them up with some weather balloons. More than likely the tale is an elaborate fabrication reflecting their own wishes and desires than ever, the truth itself. One would sooner believing in the Amityville Hoax than find any inclination of truth in one of these stories.
My own experience with online aerial combat games spans a little over than 11 years. I've seen zillions of typical spook stories and rarely any truth.
I dont doubt that a pilot wound was the result of his hit... but he should have been dead a few minutes before he got his shots to land. When you have 2x30mm abd 2x20mm plus cowl guns hitting this guy he should have been swiss cheese.
And how would you know?
There are many factors involving in aerial gunner ranging from type of weapons to quality of hit, relative kinetic energies, vicinity of each sequential impact from HE shells, and etc etc.. Without any viable proof to account for your claims it is always your word against the game system - and I've learned that the game system rarely lies. It's always the people who lie about stuff - whether it is intentional, or a result of pure misunderstanding.
Not to mention my own experience with 20mms and 30mms are more than satisfactory under the conditions you've described. I myself become a counter-evidence to your claims, rendering your words meaningless.
So next time you want to claim something, bring factual proof with you. Otherwise nobody ever looks upon these kind of threads with any kind of seriousness, since it'd be more than likely a waste of time.

Easy there Krusty... Dont blow a gasket... I just wanna see a film (in.ahf format) that shows what you are talking about....
Personally I have never encountered it...
There was a film a while back where someone shot the watermelon outta a flight of 26's, but on inspection he shot the watermelon outta the lead plane and the hit sprites on the drones were not actual hits (bug if i recall correctly)...

I don't think it's so much the 30 mm as its more the AC you're attacking.
The only buff I have real problems with are the 26s . They just take more of a beating.
Well IMHO anyway.

Aim for wing root, fire individual rounds. It will die. I have had the same problem with 30mm not doing much around the fuselage, but 1 hit on the wing root has always resulted in a kill.

Bronk: Lancs take dozens also. Lately, however, they all take far too many.

i couldnt disagree more.
as an example, last week i landed a 20 kill sortie in a 262 without rearming. out of those 20 kills, 12 were bombers. i landed WITH ammo left.
you are using them wrong.
i probably have the film somewhere if you want it.

i fire off probably about 4 (less than 1 second on the trigger), any hits from those 4 will generally take down a bomber.
bombers are easy kills

yall wouldnt be havin this lil problem if yall flew 47's :D :aok
"30mm's are a joke"
BTW Creton doesnt seem to think so :lol
