Dunno if this has been posted before, but some of you guys might be interested in this site...  It has scale models of almost every type of warplane and ship.

They are neat, especially if they are made out of wood, bit too pricey for me though.

I agree, nirvana.  The Signature series is especially appealing for serious collectors with many Yeager aircraft and even a B-29 with Tibbets.

My favorite scale model aircraft are in the diecast metal Matchbox Collection (Google to find who still has those).  

I prefer metal models because they feel like aircraft just as I prefer wood models for sailing ships.

The matchbox diecast are pretty good, just about as good as the Armour ones IMO.

As an example the Matchbox diecast corsair doesnt have the -4 cutouts for the exaust around the cowl cast in them making them look funny if its supposed to be a -1.


You cant beat the 14.99 price either.

I think I have to fight a group of collectors around here.  Anytime new Matchbox or Ultimate Soldier products (i.e. WWII aircraft) hit the shelves they are gone in hours.  There has been one time that I got to a Walmart in time to pick the best of the Matchboxes but that was the only time.  I agree with GTO, the Matchboxes were a great deal for the money.  I just wish they hadn't stopped making them.  And why is it so damn hard to find a P-39/P-400 in diecast????

I'd say because it's an aircraft that doesn't get much air time on TV shows and movies so it's relatively unknown to your standard civilians, Diablo.  That's just my guess though because I'm not totally sure on the P39's publicity.
