Title: Windows 2000 Questions
Post by: Ash on August 21, 2000, 09:30:00 AM
Need some help :-)! I'm getting a new Dell system and they offer either Windows 98 or Windows Millennium Edition << assuming this is Windows 2k >>. I have heard rumblings that Windows 2k is not "gaming" friendly. Is this true? Will I be able to run AH using W2k? Should I stick to W98?

Thanks in Advance,

Ash

mellinium is not win2k, its the next in line for the win95, win98 series. It IS a gaming platform, howeverits new and not known, if u got a copy if win98, take the mellinum and give it a go. if you don't go with safe and knwon  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

You will get a Win98 installed and a coupon for a free upgrade to WinMe once it comes out.
Then you will have a choice to upgrade or wait for other people to report how many problems they encounter and if there are any benefits at all.

Yes you can use Aces High in Windows 2000.  I use Win2k exclusively and have zero problems with it and Aces High.  Caveat: some people have problems with their joysticks/rudders/etc. working in Win2k, so make sure your stuff will work if you go that route.  I'm using a Sidewinder 3d Pro with no problems, BTW.

Thanks for the help guys!  Miko, Dell is now offering Millennium. So you now have a choice to get W98 with a coupon for upgrade or go directly with Millennium. I think I will be going to W98, and save the coupon when I know it's safe. I'm not as brave as Sancho :-)!
Again thank you.

Now if I can just figure out if I should go with the 815 or the 820 chipset :-/.
