same thing happening here in Phoenix, kinda. It was only about 60 today and supposed to be in 20's.

Yeah, I didn't hear about the cold front until last night. I stopped by Lowe's and picked up a roll of plastic and some duct tape to cover my wellhouse. It was dark when I got home last night so I put it off til after work today hoping the storm would be late getting here. Well, it was early and I had to work an hour late.:furious
I tried taping some plastic over the door in 40mph winds for about 5 min then said "screw this". It was too cold and wet for the tape to stick so I rolled the plastic up and shoved it in the cracks around the door. Hopefully the spaceheater will keep it warm enough for tonight.

If you asked Masterbrum, he'd probably tell you that the whole song was out of tune, out of time and they didn't hold the guuitars correctly.
Of course, we really don't have any of his work to compair it with. ;)
I can record a quick version right now and post it, for all to enjoy! God put me on this earth and gave me mad skilz.

Just nice brisk day.
Try working out side in the single digits with that wind.
I've done it
Now THATS cold
Work started at 8:00 By 8:30 yoru feet and fingers are cold as hell.
8:45 they are so cold they hurt. 9:00 they dont hurt anymore cause they are frozen.
10:00 they hurt again cause you just smashed one of em with a 2 1/2 Lb sledge hammer while breaking out mortar. But you dont stop and you keep working cause the motto is
"Unless the digit or limb is completely severed. Keep working"
Around 11:00-11:30 your fingers and toes start to tingle and you can almost feel them again at high noon. By 1:00 everything is numb again Till around 4:30 -5:00 when you get in the truck to go home and they start to thaw out.. then THAT hurts.
Now imagine all that while suspended 5 stories in the air on a Rope (Swing)scaffold in NYC where everything had to be hoisted up by hand using Hemp Rope cause the sheer lunatic you work for HAS to be labled as "the Last of the old Tyme Steplejack Tuck point and Waterproofers" and HAS to do eveything the old fasioned way.
And nothing so minor like a little cold weather and wind was gonna stop him no matter how much it blew the scoffold around.
Oh and BTW. "Its only a little (@($)# Wind! Get up on that #)$(@ ledge when you lower down that container of anti hydro! Your gonna ruin my *@*$)@ rope!"
No electric hoists or cables for this guy. nonono.
I swear sometimes I still pull hemp splinters out of my hands.
And this took place 25 years ago
bah.. Dont even get me started on the cold LOL
-
LOL and now that Im thinking about it
the one and only time I can remember him stopping or cancelling work due to the weather was during a blizzard.
Cause they shut the town down
LMAO

For just under $5 you could get more then a mans share of some damn good ribs, a big order of spuds, Cole Slaw and a Large Drink.
bout 12 years ago the guy Named Ralph Chelbian fell off a building for the second time and was killed. Probably doing something insane.

forcast was adjusted for my area, Cedar Creek (about 20 miles southwest of Austin) currently 36, feels like 24, high expected to be 39, 70% chance of rain. Freezing rain likely, winds 25 mph with gusts upto 35 mph
and me with no electricity :cry
-
Mac, your Cat doesn't blink anymore because his skin is too tight.
You should have poked a couple of holes in him before you put him in the microwave. (your lucky he didn't explode).
All you need to do is poke a few holes in him to let the pressure out and then microwave him again for 5 or 6 minutes.
That should get him blinking again!
cheers, and glad I could be of help to you!

I realize Texans take a while to get caught up with the 20th century, now 21st century (in case you didn't know...) but they have had this new invention now for quite awhile, and quite affordable, its called a G-A-S G-E-N-E-R-A-T-O-R.
What it does is allows you to have electricity even when the power company doesn't have power! Its really neat! you should try it. :D (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/images/smilies/stickpoke.gif)

I guess you missed the thread where thieves stole his wiring. But, you have a point about a generator. I'm planning on installing a wind generator that and sell excess electricity to the power grid.
Skystream (http://www.skystreamenergy.com/skystream/) has developed a very quiet hi output wind generator. The Skystream 3.7 starts generating in 8 mph winds. Popular Science (http://www.popsci.com/popsci/flat/bown/2006/product_85.html) , Time (http://www.time.com/time/2006/techguide/bestinventions/inventions/home5.html) and Inc (http://www.inc.com/green/) magazines all give it rave reviews. Everyone should get one of these.

thanks Rip, I never would have thought of that ;)
One of the guys offered me the use of one of his generaters but I dont think I'll need it. Electrician thinks he can get everything back up by tonight. if not my dad says we can stay at his place until its done.

Oh and I saw snow a few minutes ago, very slight, in Austin, corner of Metric and Braker. One of the guys went to the post office to pickup our mail and saw the snow mixed with sleet...gonna be a fun drive home...
-
"it will be in 20's + wind chill later"
Awright. Shorts weather!
-
Currently here in Fort Worth it is 26 deg with a wind chill of 15 and freezing rain with snow following closely on it's heels. My patio is covered in ice as are the windows and patio door on the north side of the house ( the back of the house ).
I work the evening shift and we get off work at 00:15. I think I just might take a day of vacation today rather than take a chance on bending my new Mustang. It has traction control but until I have had a chance to experiment with that I may forgo the experience of driving to work on ice until a later time.
Seems this is a good opportunity to fry some chicken then play Aces High or I could just clean up around the house a bit...

HOLEY CRAP!
Went to work this morning and the weather call at 4AM said "72, feels like 70"
Then the winds picked up and by 6am the temp had dropped over 30 degrees.

Incidently, for those of you that do have traction control...you never want to have your traction control engaged in snow. If you do, you won't be going anywhere.

Hopefully all will be well by this evening, its really hard to use your pc by candlelight, the screen is so dark ;)

Geez Airscrew, put the candle away! You could set fire to your PC! Use a flashlight. You will be able to see better. :D
MarkAT, rpm is pretty much correct. No amount of traction control will save you from the local idiots in thier trucks. Was watching the news this morning and evey single vehicle losing control at an overpass was a pickup truck. Cars were just driving on by, except the ones that got hit by the trucks.
-
lol, Here in Tulsa we just got our first snow, I liked our 70 deg weather. :( I'd like to see some snow in the arena too. Can just see people dropping like flies from ice-wings. :D

I may have to fork over some cash on a full coverage helmet, my chin got kinda cool riding home last night. Rode 500 miles on a Thanksgiving ride, gotta love living and riding in Kalifornia. :lol
-
Flatbar, just take a cellophane bag and put it over your helmet, securing it with a tie wrap around your neck. No more cold to worry about! :)
Anyone else have something they need fixed? :D
Airscrew can see his monitor better.
Flatbar no longer has to be concerned with his chin getting cold.
I am on a roll! :lol
-
Yeah Skuzzy and rpm, you're right. I had that in mind when I called into work for a day's vacation. It's one thing to control your own car and another entirely of having to play bumper cars with those that are driving challanged. I never have had a real problem driving on ice, I just decided not to play the game today.

Well Mr. Airscrew, take yer keyboard and some duct tape. Tape the keyboard to the front wheel of your car. Take care to put it on the side of the tire, and not on the tread side. Putting it onth tread side will cause your car to thump a few times until there is nothing left of the keyboard.
Make sure you get it good and secure across the center of the tire. Dunt want to caus ethe tire to go out of balance.
Wait until it rains, then drive around the block a few times. It should clean the keyboard right up.
Now, if you want it to be functional,...well ignore the above.
There's two freebies for ya. :D

Was driving home from work the other morning and it was -31 degree Celsius = -23.8 degree Fahrenheit..it was so cold Pam Anderson was wearing fur.....:huh

I told my boss that my insurance deductible was more than I made in a day, thus I wouldn't be in. Every single bridge between Lake Worth and Grapevine was frozen or getting frozen. Two of the ones nearest to my house were so solid that most cars were sliding across them.
Roads may be dry, but road decks aren't. :(

I know bad advise when I see it. Any advice that lacks either duct tape or bailing wire is just bad advise, period.
-
Well heck, be creative. You can replace the tie wrap with duct tape. Send em to school, pay for the books, and look what happens. :)
