One of my senior year english teachers was arrested today on charges of child porn. This is just wrong. Im pissed that I shared a classroom with this, not a man in my book, thing atlittle about a year ago. This thing was put in charge of education. I will post a news link as soon as the news channels catch up.

My friends teacher was charged for having sex with a child.

There's been a string of women teachers arrested for molesting students around here lately. It's a pretty sad state of things really.

he makes a good point.
we have been shifting that way lately as a culture. we really should at least TRY to suspend judgement.

We just had a local cop convicted of molesting his 6 year old daughter with his friend. He got 2 life sentances +99 years. He got off light.

Yer right, its an excellent point. However, to be fair, I seriously doubt anyone is going to arrest a schoolteacher and charge them with (I'm guessing possession of?) child pornography. Thats pretty much something you have proof of before you arrest someone who can argue their career was ruined by the exposure, if you arrested them wrongly.
While it may be true that we are often quick to ajudge guilt when it hasnt been proven in court yet, we also must remember that many times those who truly are guilty are set free by our justice system on technicalities. We may be "innocent until proven guilty" in the eyes of the law, but there are lots of people out there who are "guilty but proven innocent" by the same laws. Doesnt exactly engender faith in the system.

Perhaps I am confusing your views for someone else's. Didn't you say that the death penalty was bad?
If so, what do you propose?

Did he ask you to try on your little sailor suit BlueJ?

Well it happened here recently. A lot of teacher's lives were wrecked beyond repair before it turned out that the 'victims' were lying.

Crap, I have a ton around me, Sacramento is a vacationing spot for these scums.

pei... teachers are a protected species here.. taking the place of god... In order to be arrested there has to be at least a vid and 15 witnesses and then... they might get suspended. One teacher in 900 is ever fired.

We had a teacher here a couple of years ago. Took his PC to a local guy to have it fixed. Said guy started nosing around on the teacher's hard drive and found what he considered suspicious evidence. He called the police the police did an investigation. Charges were filed, the teacher was suspended, it was all over the papers and that was the last anyone heard about it. It turned out all the charges were dropped. All that was there were a couple of pics in his temp files. Pics that could have been picked up from spamm emails or a mis-clicked link. Unfortunately the guy's career and standing in the community were ruined. He had to move away. He was within a few years of retirement too.

They needed stirring up, they've been a little quiet for the last couple of hundred years or so.

A good point. The system presupposes when someone brings criminal charges against another, that the "victim" is telling the truth. Our justice system isnt perfect, it still relies on us. I merely pointed out that (at least recently), the imperfectons tend to swing more in the favor of the criminal than the victim. Which might explain why there is a trend amongst the public to presuppose guilt instead of innocence.
In a case where the supposed victim is lying, then they need to turn around and file charges against that one, and the person previously accused of false crimes has every right to sue in civil court for whatever damage has been done to their lives and/or livelihood.
