IMO this is the best arena in the game with it's historical matchups! Initially I though it was just one of the generic maps, except each side was limited to either Allied or Axis aircraft, but it's more of a "time and location" arena. It's sure a nice break from the normal arenas where all you see are the uber rides. It's a shame it's not used.
Are there any other squads or players who would be interested in flying against us in the AvA room? We'd get together at a predetermined day and time and fly missions against each other. It could be as casual as just showing up and going at each other, or even better, we could make it more fun by adding some structure with objectives, flying realistic missions and keeping score.
On a side note, a couple questions
Is there anyway to log the text messages on the radio?
How often does the setup in the AvA room change?
What does "tool shed" mean? I gather it's something derogatory.

There are a lot of AvA players out there who can be currently found in the EW/MW arenas.
Good news Trukk - the AvA staff have something planned. More news when we work out the details. :aok

Give me a taste of RAF v LW early 1943 and I'm there :)
Spit Vb and IX
Tiffie and Hurri II
Mossie and Boston
vs
109G2, 109g6
190A5, 190F8 (something has to sub for those hit and run 190s)
110Gs and Ju88s
Bout dead even in performance. Brawl over the Channel

A POX UPON THEE!!!!
The non-stop S*itfire hordes were one of the main factors that drove me out of the AvA and back into the MA in the first place. Its pathetic when you are in a 1944 Channel setup, with the B-17, B-24, P-38J, P-47Ds, P-51 B and D all enabled, and still all you ever see the Acklieds flying is Spits. Not even Typhoons.
Sad when you go back to the MA to get AWAY from the Spitfires...

It describes a type of player...with the underlying definition meaning that in an online game with hundreds of other people, they would rather bomb a "tool shed" in an undefended part of the map than actually fight a live opponent.

"Toolshedder"is a term used by those unwilling to defend a field's resources (gas, ammo, hangars) to describe those who destroy their means to play..ie.. sending the tools back to the shed.

Namely the "furballers" but that description is not taken as derogatory :)

That's great news!

To tell the truth, Alot of the work done by the AvA staff has been great...the only problem is, with our incomplete EW and MW planesets, some of the stand-ins kinda screw it up. Namely, when you have to sub F4F's for Brewster Buffaloes in Finnish scenarios, or 190A5's for earlier A-3's and A-4's in Late BoB's. If the planesets were more fleshed-out, I could see AvA getting some more use.

That's just general gameplay though. What I'd like to do is more of an organized thing. For example:
Besides ourselves, squads X, Y and Z are interested. So us and squad X will fly American and squads Y and Z will fly Japanese (using the current setup as an example).
Mission #1: The Americans have to bomb location A or B and the Japanese have to defend against it.
Mission #2: The Japanese have to attack targets and the Americans have to defend against it.
Mission #3: Both the Japanese have to attack specific targets and at the same time protect their own targets.
Etc, etc
All missions have specific OOBs.
I think it would be lots of fun and am prepared to do the paperwork/web work to facilitate it. All we need is the interest/participation of others.

The AvA hasn't always been empty, you're not the first to walk this path and don't count on the AvA staff. Just some words I hope you take as advice, because there are some of us out there that would love to see you succeed. Trukk

Hi, Trukk. Usually every Friday (unless there's something else going on, like a European RPS which takes about a month from BoB to Spring of 1945). Current setup for the next week is Late War ETO (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=193560).

to "have something planned" that is what I was referring to. Not to anything else, didn't mean for it to sound as harsh as it did.
0/200 does all the speaking for me in that regard.
:) Just teasing.
