Title: FPS caps in video settings, how/why ?
Post by: Saintaw on October 01, 2001, 05:54:00 AM
Hello,

I've noticed you can set a cap to the FPS in the Aces High Visual settings (60 & 40 FPS). I'd like to know what it's for & how to use it, thank you  :)

Greets Saw..

A lot of guys where having problems with graphics, glitches when it used to be unlimited FPS settings. So they add a few restrictive settings for FPS.

Basically,if you have no problems with video at unlimited FPS, just leave it alone  :)

Dog out......

Apparently, most NVidia drivers will let you merrily scribble into the frame buffer when it is still posting the frame to the video display.  The scriblling itself is not the problem, but the restart of the frame draw is, which occurs when the sofware has finished scribbling to the frame buffer.

This is what causes most graphic glitches, especially the flashing at the bottom of the screen.

By capping the frame rate, it slows down AH enough to keep this from happening, especially with fast CPU systems.
