Any chance of getting someone to do a SpitV in 4th FG markings? Like maybe this one?
EDIT- pic was too big, have to shrink it...
-
There we go. 334th FS.
-
Another from the same squadron.
I keep finding profiles of Eagle Squadron Spit Vs with the same markings as the 4th ones, just with the US star over the RAF roundels. Same codes and everything. Apparently the WD, VF and QP codes didn't come along until the Jugs were introduced, learn something every day. :D
-
Makes sense that it was the same as they transitioned. That's first group CO Chesley Peterson in the bottom photo of what had at one time been a 71 Squadron RAF Spit. 71 became 334, 121 became 335 and 133 became 336 if memory serves.
71's markings were XR
Of course if we really wanted to ask for something in a Spit, a 133 Squadron Spit IX might be kinda nice :)

Profile or something please! I have a SpitIX template..

I just never looked into either the Eagle Squadrons or the early 4th enough to notice that. Its a pavlovian phobia- I hear the word "spitfire", I have to punch something.
Crap. there went the bookshelf. :(

Here ya go. BS313 MD-A
133 had em for a brief time in late 42 but lost 11 of 12 on a Mission to Morlaix when they ran out of fuel after running into unforcast headwinds that blew them way off course.
BUT! 133 did have IXs in combat :)
The profile has a tropical filter under the nose that the 133 birds wouldn't have had. But I put it together from a template I have along with info I found.

Don Gentiles Vb from Corgi.

Gentile was a 'spare' for the Morlaix mission. Had he gone, his Mustang days woulda never happened. Call it fate :)

The noseart if very blurry. Can you make it sharper, by any chance?
You have problems where the camo lines don't match up going from one side of the fuselage to the nose, and back to the other side of the fuselage. The nose is out of alignment and doesn't have the same blur given to the border between colors (is crisp)
Trailing edge of the port wing has traces of yellow on it. The leading edge yellow stripes don't seem very uniform. I don't know if this was intentional or not. I always assumed they were well-placed and smoothly applied.
The rudder camouflage should be an extension of the tail camo, but the lines are broken and don't match up.
The port/starboard should wrap to each other over the top. I don't have a good top-down view but I can see on one side the green comes up at the top of the star and on the other there's no green for a long stretch back towards the tail.
Where did you get the camo pattern from? I'm not the one to ask for a definitive answer, but it doesn't look right to me (specifically regarding the starboard wing and the rear stabilizer/fuselage area.
All in all not bad, but some of the details need to be checked :)

on the rudder area the tail fin flash is painted over with green to losse the RAF markings also on the starboard wing it should sow where the roundel has been painted out but i havent done that yet.
i know the camo is still out of line but thats just a fiddle bit to do ont the list of too do.
the nose art should be clear i must have hit the wrong button.
Too much beer and wine and too many buttons dont really go togeather
