Well another look at me tread anyways,
The cable guy is coming later on today and I may lose my internet connection for a few days. As I am leaving for boot camp next tuesday Im going to post this ahead of time just in case.
Ladies and gentlemen its been a great few years. Ive caused trouble and had fun. Ive met some people on here and in game that I consider good friends now. I hope to return in the near future. But if not Id like to thank everyone for helping me waste so many hours I could have spent outside sitting here and playing a game or making fun of one another in the O'Club.
Thankyou HTC for creating such a great game that allows a community such as this to form. Even with all our low points we still have a few positives. No matter how much I complain about a change to the game or what I want to change I still believe it is one above the rest. Im sorry I was a freeloader for a mjority of my time spent here. Money problems and computer problems made it difficult to play.

Best of luck buddy. Just remember, boot camp is SUPPOSED to suck. It gets better. Just one word of advice....AH doesn't really count when the war stories start flying!
-
Go Slugs!
In addition, the cable guy being on time is almost as likely as the Stanley Cup in your avatar ever showing up in the Sabres locker room......
;)

good luck Blue and like Mace said, Basic training is supposed to suc. especially the first couple of days. I still remember our shake down by the TI's. Bring very little with you, if you need it they'll issue it to you, if they dont issue it to you they'll give you pay to go buy it. Just remember to keep your mouth shut and listen to what the instructors say. I guarantee you they will tell you everything you need to know. and basic training isn't just about an individual effort, its about working together with your fellow trainees, so that everyone completes basic. The first couple of weeks are going to be rough, try to have fun with it ;)

Thankyou guys. Im more then ready for it. For the most part I know what is coming and I know most of what Im supposed to know. Im going in as a E-3, so theres a good chance I'll have a leadership position. Cant be any harder then being in charge of 70 teenagers. :p

:lol you'll be suprised. I remember a guy in our basic training flight, 23 years old, college degree. He couldnt walk/march in step, couldnt hang a pair of pants on a hanger (they always fell off), couldnt tie a knot to hang his laundry bag. He was in my squad, me and another guy spent about a week and half workin with him. then one day they pulled him from the flight while we were waiting for chow and we never saw him again. We always said they sent him to OTS to be an officer :lol

Take care J. Boot camp sucks. Hang tough.
-
Going in as E-3 don't mean crap in Basic, you're just another recruit in a sea of recruits. Only thing that'll help is if you have prior Military service. College, JROTC, Law Enforcement, they couldn't care less.
My impression of Basic was that its just like the outside world- the more you suck up, take credit for other peoples work and pawn off your failures on those around you, the better you'll do.
And never include the words "my recruiter said" in a sentance. :lol

I don't know what service you were in (Air Force?), but I certainly didn't go to Jerkoff Boot Camp.
Edit: Ah, Army.
-
Army. Lets just say we had a few guys in my Company with the "My Daddy is a Colonel" syndrome.
-
cya bluega.. i mean bluej. best of luck to you.
-
blue,
if you're going into the army chances are you will be made a squad ldr. you'll probaly be in charge of -12 idiots and you will have to answer to your drill sgt. for their f ups.
the only thing that sucked about basic was the new hours you will keep. everything else will be a gradual climb. just keep up.
of course it may have changed some in 27 years.lol
DONT VOLUNTEER FOR ANYTHING
<<>>
AND THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

I think he's going into the Navy.
What mustard said: Don't volunteer for ANYTHING. Ever.
Keep your head down, your mouth closed and your ears open. Remember that the nail that sticks up gets hammered down.

Good luck and godspeed BlueJ!
Watch your back, Sir
-
NAVY=Never Again Voluteer Yourself
-
And if they try to get you into a barrel, DONT DO IT. :)
Good luck. If they send you out this way after basic, I'll foot the bill for at least one beer.

Fair Winds and Following Seas my friend.
Read Bucky's post....you will learn to appreciate it.
Being singled out as a leader in boot camp is not all it is cracked up to be.

Actually, there is a very good chance he will be in a squad/section/team leader position. Anyone with any kind of background to rate a bump in grade (ROTC, IADT, College, Boy Scout record,...it varies...) often ends up working those positions for the DI's. Really it means more responsibility on top of training, and when your people get dropped..... you drop with them. They've done something to indicate their experience to-date (and hopefully not just fast-talking a couple buddies to join with them), which justifies a little more effort in their training cycle by their DI's.
These positions change hands through the cycle, more often than not. I was squad leader for about 1/3rd a cycle, and platoon sergeant for 1 week. (Funny that, now I'm a platoon sergeant again after 19 years.......)
Those that prove to be above average to outstanding usually will get a notation to that effect in their records. Good trainers are always on the lookout for potential leaders to fast track into NCO Schools, future Warrants, Mustangs, and enlisted personnel that should be steered toward OCS.

Remember, it's not just a job, it's indenture.
Good luck, keep your head down and the median is the safest place to be (statistically speaking).
-
Good luck.
God Bless.
And Thank You!

/O We're indebted to your service and honor.

Blue, they are all lying. The best thing to do when you get boot camp walk up to your CC(company commander as they were called when i went through) SMACK him and say "lets see what ya got biiioooootch".
That will let him know right away that you won't be pushed around and he will leave you alone for the rest of your time there.
:D

Thankyou all. I appreciate your kind words.
And no thankyous should be directed toward me. I havnt done anything deserving a thankyou as of yet.
The E-3 I achieved through 6 years of "service" in a Naval program for teenagers. Sorta like a JROTC but not high school attached. And better. Like I said, I have a chance at a leadership position. For the most part im gona keep my mouth shut and keep my knowledge to myself unless a shipmate needs help. I dont intend on making myself a target.
-
Whatever the fuutre holds for you I wish you luck. Its a different world today than the time I was in. Just keep your mouth shut, do what you're told, do it well, and you'll do fine.
-
as an army ssg I'll tell you to suck it up and drive on.. as a medic ill tell you to be safe and train hard.. as someone whos gone thru basic ill tell you greet the drill sgts warmly and shake their hands :).
send me a p.m with your name and what company your going to be in basic (and where) and ill mail you the basic combat training survial kit.
(naked pictures of sHawk, artificial man parts, screen shots of what you missed while you where away and oh ya johnnys got your girl.)

Keyword: YET.
So -- consider it an advance on all the thank yous you WILL earn and likely not receive . . . because we can't thank folks like you enough.
You've volunteered to do something 99% wouldn't ever consider doing, thereby making it possible for schlumps like me to continue to live our ignorant, hedonistic, blissful lives in safety. To me, that's already something.
Just don't wash out and make me take it back! :aok
