This is not a thread about parachuting a cat.
I would never have been involved with anything like that.
This is not a cat wearing a homemade jumpsuit, harness and crash helmet. This picture was not taken in the radome of a USAAF Nike Missile site (Circa - 1982). I would never have trespassed on military property. I have never owned New Balance shoes. I did, however, own a black cat.

This is not a cat being lowered out of the access window of a missile site radome.
If this is a cat dangling from the access window of a missile site radome, I'm sure that he must have climbed out on his own. Cats like heights.

That is not a 13' Hefty Bag & packing tape parachute coming out of that window.

Once again, this is not a cat parachuting from the radome of a USAAF Nike Missile site. I never owned or driven a Jeep Wagoneer.
I do not know and have never met the person who is about to catch whatever that is.
I think that's really a UFO.

He looks really pissed off.

omg that was hilarious
:rofl

I suppose this post begs the question: WHY?
The cat did not seem too enthused with the whole idea according to the first picture.
Had the cat requested the opportunity to parachute out of a radome?
New form of animal torture?
Inquiring minds would like to know.

Like I said, I know nothing. I would never have been involved with anything like that.

See Rule #7
-
you should post that on your church website.

It's nice to see that the cat at least took the proper safety procautions and wore a helmet and other safety gear. Most felines today are all about the adrenaline rush and forgo the proper safety gear.

This cat has already his first B.
He still has to jump from an antenna (A), a bridge (S) and a cliff (E) and he may apply for his BASE number.
:aok
OTOH, jumping out of a perfectly good missile radome is beyond me....
-
those don't look like 1980s shoes at all... :noid
-
Someone needs to post that on PETA's website. Should be good for some mileage with those knuckel heads.:aok
-
They still used B/W cameras in the 80's?
-
Ah, another state secret blown.
This was the first test of a new detainee interrogation technique. You can tell it was only a test because 1) there are no known feline WOT detainees and 2) there's a parachute. The parachute was to ensure the safety of the test subject, it's not part of the actual interrogation technique.

It's not the camera that's black and white (except possibly externally) it's the film. Yes they still use B&W film in this decade too.

Eskimo2
You are just the sort of person we are looking for in the Leper Colony. You find the information that is important to all! Of course if you of found one where the parachute did not open we would have amde you the comander!

He muttered something about "test Pile-its" and "doing it for the glory", and then stomped out........................

Reminds me of something I saw a while back. Someone created a hovering perpetual motion machine by strapping a piece of buttered toast (buttered side up) to a cat's back. Since toast always lands butter side down when dropped and cat's always land on their feet, the cat just hung in the air spinning about a foot off the ground when dropped.
-
No wonder the cat looks p***sed. He doesn't need a parachute.
See this
Cats fly (http://www.petplace.com/cats/why-cats-land-on-their-feet/page1.aspx)
I heard one story of a cat jumping out of a Piper Cub in the pattern. The pilot found it sitting at the side of the runway waiting for him after landing. I'm not sure what this says about the cat's view of the pilot's abilities to land safely:rofl

It's the rushing sound I've heard that causes cats not to get hurt when falling.
Same thing with pot heads. A pair of pot heads were smoking on the roof of our gym. One fell off. He was so stoned, that the rushing air sound relaxed him, and he flopped when he hit the ground. He wasn't hurt.
