So here's a question, what was the favorite kill you've scored in your AH careers?
I happen to be partial tonight to one of my most recent:
I'd just downed an La-7 near his base, (short fight, he tried to dive out and run for the ack, passed too high over the base, and I nailed him when he tried to swing back around) and was turning to cruise home low on gas. Yeah, I was also trying to bait the guy to come back up again, which he did. I'm maintaining by climb to about 7k, then leveled out on a course home, keeping an eye on the dot climbing up behind me.
He reaches con range and, surprise surprise,, it was an La-7, climbing for all he's worth to reach my altitude, which after I'm just leaving his field's dar circle he does, about 5k out. He noses down to accelerate, thinking he's going to slip in on my six unawares (which I'm intentionally allowing him to close so he thinks he's succeeded).
As he hits 3000 yards distance, I throw full power and RPM, punch WEP and snap into a Split-S under him. Rather than try and follow he goes nose-high and tries to pull into a loop to evade. As he begins to cross over my line of flight I roll 180 into an Immelmann, close into 400 yards before I complete my loop and let him have it in the wing.
I leveled out and turned for home (adding three B-24s to my tally on the way in). When I get the kill message on the La, as I expected it was the same guy as not a few minutes before.
It can be so entertaining ruining the plans of the sortie spoilers hoping to pop you in the back when you turn for home. :D

262 vs 262 fights.
I've killed 2. 1 a simple chased down, 6 shot, the other a scissors snapshot.
Biggest adrenaline rush in the game. Perkies ain't a HUGE thing, but it puts a little bit more on the line :)
-
I was flying N. Africa in the old CT. In a Spit I got into with 2 Emil's in a canyon on the west side of the map. Had my starboard aileron shot off from an earlier engagement. After an epic struggle on the deck in the canyon I manage to shoot down both Emil's. Seriously low on fuel I landed at a nearby friendly field, the engine dying as I came to a halt.
One of the most satisfying moments in my AH career, when I had one.

Blasting Stang's 262 one night while he was hunting squaddies. He never saw it coming. :)
-
mine was maybe one week ago, redtop was chasing a 190 up at 23,000 feet around for 25 mins who just wouldnt fight. climbing higher the whole time and running when not able to. in the end he gave up and came down to help me with a few lower cons. as he did the 190 followed with obvious intent and i pulled up and shot his belly up as he dived past me to shoot redtop. my 6 50cals tore his tail off and he went down.
SYSTEM: you have shot down 0DALLAS0
oh the whines and screams a foul stroke were melodic and the PMs almost sidesplitting.
-
It is always a great kill when you buffer says
"You have shot down Hitech"
:D
(tho he has killed me more :P )
-
A couple of years ago I got locked into a fight (C205{me} vs an la-7). The lala had significant alt & e and began to beat me down (was a very well regarded stick). After 4-5 minute he'd driven me down to the deck from 8k or so and was getting close to the endgame. He came in on a hi yoyo to force me down literally to thedeck and as he pulled up and away I rolled back up and popped of 4 20mm and caught a golden bb...instant kill at 800+. He moaned and whined over 1 (was before 200 I think) and then we both busted up agreeing it was a "zen like" once in a lifetime shot...he was so fast that he was out of my view when I fired and caught the round(s)...
-
One time I killed Leviathn while he was AFK eating Cheez-its.
-
my #1 fave kill was when ..
i had just reached cruising alt of 15k in my ponnyb and then i see a flight of 2 262s below me , so i dive down on the lead i get 300 behind him and opened up on him with my .50 cals.....
i flip up and see a BOOM the kill message reads
"you have shot down JohnnyRa"
lol
the other 262 ran home with heavy damage and missing flap hmm wonder how his landing went
that same day a sqaudie got Jr in his 262 lol
-
killing pacerr vulching from a field gun :lol
all kidding aside...i get most of my thrills from killing "big name" vulchers in an ostie. its kindve hypocritical of me...:t
-
Kind of not really "a favorite kill", but the one I remember the most is harassing 3 lower planes when a 4th one came in higher and forced me to the deck. It was my P38J vs a typhoon, a la7, a spit9, and n1k. The fight started with the congo line in that order.
I landed with those 4 kills, plus 1 from earier in the flight.
-
just tonight, i killed myself shooting corky:)
-
I was upping at a base away from the front line in a 205, & 2 262s came in to kill troops (talk about overkill) & as I lifted I shot the second one in the belly. He went down immediately and his buddy must ave looked back and rammed the hill. They complained about the "HO" for half an hour, although I didn't have enough E to HO anyone.
-MI-:lol :lol :lol
-
My favorite kill I can't even claim as my own. I was riding with Doobs when he killed Santa, but it was an awsome ride none the less.
Beyond that I would have to say it was on a bomb run in FSO when I got my favorite kills on my own. JG44 was tasked to fly Ju-88's and hit 2 bases for our mission. I was the bomber flight lead and we were coming on our second target right at the 1 hour mark and when I looked thru the bombsite I saw a bunch of fighters on the re-arm pad refueling. I figured what the heck, and pickled a couple off. Got four for my efforts and the whines where priceless considering it was FSO.

Favorite kills involed me dying to Shane. No matter what I would do that guy would always pull off the most incredible maneuver and come out on top.

Killing a Pony with my .45 as he flew past my wreckage. :D

My favorite kill was winging with Birdo in Spit 5's. We saw two cons, he broke first, I followed. Bodhi lit Birdo up, and extended to keep speed up. I broke into the 2nd con, he pulled into a banking turn to get on my 6. I timed a perfect snapshot "System: You have shot down Leviathn #1". Immediately after Levi, I pull into Bodhi, who must have lost me for a split second and shot him down. Two very good sticks down within 10 seconds. Stang tried running me down, but I landed em.

I saw Shane about 2 months before the splitting of the arenas. I shot him down in FT on Donut. I actually got a Salute from him. We chatted a bit on 200. He was "HARR" - with the "Slobberdonkeys Beware" as a squadron name.
Haven't seen him since.

Most memorable is still the one where the Spit XVI driver bounced me while I was after a set of 24s. I saw him in time to break, but he had the alt and the E. Fight went from 10K to the deck. Ended up in a turn fight 20 feet off the water. He thought he could hang with the G low and slow. Saw him drop a wing first and recover right on the waves. Tried to extend but he couldn't pull away. Ended up in a scissoring fight. Nothing like being upside down in a 38G at 30 feet. Finally got him on a snapshot as he crossed my nose. He wasn't a newb, so it felt kinda good to come out on top. Checked the film and it was a full 5 minutes of twisting and turning trying to get the edge. Hands were shaking by the time it was over :)
Had a similar one going tonite. Ended up in a 1 on 4 on the deck. Got the first guy to overshoot and killed him. I was way slow. Second guy overshot and ran. Two more coming in. Got them both to overshoot and they were turning back in. I was lining up on the N1K 200 out hoping to get him and then drop the fire onto the 190D9 that was turning just behind him after I'd forced them both out in front.
Some bum in a 51 comes in at light speed and picks me. He shall remain nameless....Treize....:)
-
One of my favorites was a year ago. I was in a hurri and ended up going beak to beak with Mord in a Spit. My nose was off, his was on and he rammed me giving me fuel and oil leaks but he went down. Got the "Mord has collided with you" message. Mord comes back on 200 and says there's no way I could have survived that, I rammed him...blah, blah, blah. Trying to make my way back to base I had a few more engagements that delayed me and sure enough, here comes Mord, ignoring everyone else and headed straight for me. I'm out of ammo, fuel and oil so I turn, hit the deck and head for base but he's closing so end up doing a break turn and engageing. After a few turns he rams me again, this time from almost 90 degrees out so you can't really claim it was a mutual ho. Get the message again "Mord has collided with you" and Mord goes down again. Loved the ch 200 "chat"...blah...blah...blah. Laughed my way all the way back to the base. Hurri's a tough puppy, Mord...well haven't seen him in a long time, maybe he switched CPIDs.
-
It never fails to amaze me how totally serious people take a game.
I loved the immersion of fake reality with a squad but can never imagine re-upping out of anger just to get at someone who just downed me.
-
Well, since Guppy posted two...
I REALLY enjoyed a fight I had the other night in LW Blue on NDIsles (I THINK). I upped in my 1A and started climbout, intending to help bust cap on the next base over.
However on my way out I saw that a friendly CV in the area was being harassed, and had a growing Dar Bar in the neighboring sector, so I turned to help.
I first conned a 51 somewhat above me, high enough I couldn't get to him without blowing all my E, so I nose-low to grab some speed. He passes me up, makes a run on the CV and escapes the gauntlet of AAA (no or negligible damage to the flattop). I roll in to pursue, but he had far too much E to start with for me to catch in a straight chase, so I pull up to start regaining some altitude when I see a HUGE number of cons IB on the carrier.
Not wanting to get ganged I enter a high Immelmann to reverse back towards the CV and friendlies upping in the area. Another ally (can't remember who it was, now) dives in and starts mixing up with the 51. As I'm on my way back to the carrier an La-7 is pursuing me. After a quick break under and to his left and into a loop I end up behind him and take him down after a short chase.
Now the wall of red appears. Some 8-10 close formations of Ju-88s are down on the deck rolling in on the carrier, but before I can turn on them the friendly engaged with the Pony goes down, and the 51 then fixes his attention on me. Another similar reversal as executed against the La-7 and that's it for the Pony.
The CVs guns start lighting up as the other friendlies try to turn her clear and deal with the 88s. I roll in and start shooting at whatever I can put my sights on. One...Two...Three 88s go down and the formations start to scatter. Torpedoes are running in the water. Zoom in, pull up hard, roll and drop down again, high side, front-quarter, slashing across their rear. Four...Five...
There are just too many of them to fight and steer the carrier with what few defenders we have. The CV goes down.
As the last 88s make their runs on the remaining escorts I continue my defense. Flame Six. Let the bastage burn. Pull up, roll over and drop. Splash Seven.
Guns all but empty and the last friendly in the air I return home, and yet those 9 kills just weren't enough.
Then again, it ended up taking the Nits every last one of those 30-odd Ju-88s to kill one sparsely defended carrier...
-
I guess I would say the funniest not favorite one...
I had just dropped troops from my C-47 and was turning away from the town when someone said there was a 262 inbound to the town... I continued my turn and sure enough here come the 262 right at the troops who were now behind me...
I turned slightly to my left and did all I could do BANG....... Collided with the 262 to protect the troops which were still falling....
Immediately: you shot down #######......
I laughed as I landed the C-47 on the runway of the newly captured base......
Didnt even bother tuning into 200, let my imagination fill in the blanks......
-
last night
drunk
1 p47 (me)
vs
3 x 262s....
didnt last long :o

Killed a JB in his 262 when we were on a deep strike naval raid on the base near bottom left HQ on Mindanao. I think I was in an F4F or F6F and let a spray out and must have landed a head shot. If i recall correctly we took that base and held it for awhile, that was AH1 though.
-
My favorite kill was my first one. Been hooked ever since!:aok
Obie
-
Cant remember any one single event, but back in AH1 times i had great fun winging up with one or two other jug drivers and creating mahem from up high. There have also been quite a few buff intercept special events were we have flown 109s or 190s in pairs against buffs with pony escorts.
Yesterday i had many sorties in my K4 up high were i downed formations of lancs while dodging in and out of the cloud cover and taking time to find good angles comming out of the sun.
-
my fav, has got to be the ackgunn kill with my ,.45.......very satisfying.
-
HOing Stangs 109K with my solo JU88 and winning:lol
-
Yucca was flying his p47N in TT one night.. i was just flying along at around 15k in my p51 when i saw him starting to climb up to hammerhead someone. Didnt even have to drop the nose.. he flew right up into my guns.. i pulled off a 4 second burst and he blew... first yucca kill it was satisfying.
-
Back when AH2 was in beta pyro was in a p38 mixing it up with someone
I and wolf14 were circling waiting our turn. pyro splashed the con and I rolled in flying a p51 back in the beta days most planes had a wicked snap stall that was almost unrecoverable unless you were at 15k or better. I think this is what pyro was testing. Anyways we danced for about 5 mins pyro flew that 38 better than anyone i have ever seen. I finally got a snap shot of his tail and down he went.
At another time Hitech was testing a panzer this was back when AH2 still had tunnels. i had snuck around thru a tunnel and was hiding behind a bush. When he passed my I gave him a few luv taps with the MG, when he started to turn the turret I nailed him :D :D i got a "good Job" comment in the text buffer.

No fav's just some memorable moments. Did 2 tigers with 2x 500Lbs at 400 MPH in one pass in a F6f. Boooom booom ..thank you :D
AR234 is my primary Cv sinker. Had bombs in air when a F4 mission rolled. Got the CV and 5 kills:rofl
Most landed kills in 1 sortie (no rearms) p47 25 Loaded up max fuel + drops. Went for some alt and landed 10 kills (no vulches) after a 40 minute flight. :aok
Was in a spit when a con with bags of E dived in at me. Did a barrel and blew him to watermelon after he flew through the middle of my roll. Right proper it was. :lol
Memorable 3 on 1. Me in spit16 and TinmanX + 2 friends in p38 G's or J's. They caught me low an slow first time and tuck turns nibbling bits of my plane away. Talk about pissed off ! Once down I upped from 1 base back and caught um equal alt. I was like :furious Killed all 3 of um in just over a minute and was :D
-
My best kill wasnt in AH it was in AW. Anyone who flew AWdos on GEnie will remember Killer, he was the master of the 190. It was late in AWdos on the big ETO map with the lake in the middle, I forget the name of that map now. We met head on both in 190s co-E and co-alt. On the merge he did a big flat turn and I went vertical, on the second merge I got the kill shot. It wasnt all that long of a fight and it was really because of his mistake of doing the flat turn more than anything I did, but I still think of that as my "best" kill because of who it was.
Afterwards he complimented me on my flying and said "As soon as I saw you go vertical after the merge I knew I was in deep ****!".
-
manetmp/blukitty because i am "lucky" every time no matter how he dies.

I know I'm speaking for Flayd on this one, but during the AH Convention featuring the flying PT Boats, I remember Flayd laughing his A** off as he was orbiting an aerial spawn point in his B26's. He killed HiTech's flying boat 5 (?) times, I think. I'll ask him later today.
-
"A kill" It would have to be between these two:
Several years ago I was rtb in a spit9 on mindano near A44 when a P47 spotted me, and dove in for the attack. I had no ammo, and very little fuel. I repeatedly evaded the P47s BnZ attacks with the E difference becoming more equal each pass. I realized that this guy would never take the hint, and go find an easier target, so I changed tactics to using the terrain as a pick. In other words "Ill present a shot opportunity, but you'll have to auger to connect with it". The result was Sysytem: You have shot down HiTech.
The other was that I was 6K away from an enemy field, and saw the telltail spawn dot indicating that someone was about to spawn at the far end of the runway. So I elevated my nose, to lob a rocket about 1/3 the way down the runway from that spawn (6K range mind you). I watched the dot spawn, start rolling down the runway, and then a crater appeared right behind them dead center on the runway and they blew up. It's the longest range kill from an a/c Ive ever gotten.
-
Winning any fight that last over a minute and you both stay within 600yds of each other the entire fight.
Killing the last guy in a 5 vs 1 fight.
Killing someone after they call me out on 200.
Killing leviathn when I only had 1 wing:aok
-
Our squad was having some fun fighting with a notorious p38 pilot who was appearing over our field at 20k. I figured which field he was coming from and went out to ambush him on his next sortie, took an la7 to 20k ( where no one would expect one) and stayed just outside the dar cirle when I noticed a dot in a slow climb, I gently went down to 16k and made him go poof at 200 out. It was poetic.
Though not really a kill my next favoite was bailing out o a hillside I took out the gun an osti that drove by, never knew what hit him as I shot down
into his open turret.

Another great one comes into mind. When Wax was with Rookland right before the switch to AH2. Wax and I decided to piss TT off on Trinity and ran a Jabo mission. I grabbed my trusty Hellcat. I dropped troops on a VH, and was now looking for something to drop 2k on.
Lo and behold, I see a Tiger about 200 yards from a different vbase. I nose in and let loose. "SYSTEM: You have shot down FireHwk#1". The WHINES and crying had reduced Wax and I to tears, as I was landing. I had the film to chuckle at for a while, but lost in a HD format. Whenever, his cheating arse would get snippy at someone, I'd "mention this one" and he'd get quiet.
Wax and I STILL laugh at this one. We figure he had WELL OVER 40 camping kills.
-
Back when I was still flying ... would say I have two occasions that stick out in my mind the most.
First was a one on one with Vd in a Ki-84 - I was flyin a Spit VIII. fight started at around 15k ... went on for what seemed forever with each of us getting the upper hand and pinging up the other. Finally forced him to overshoot & got the kill. Hell of a fight with me leaving missing an airleon & streaming black smoke.
Second was flying an FM2 @ about 5k ... spotted a friendly flight of lancs @ about 1k with a P38, C205 & a Spit IX chasing him. By the time I reached the fight the lancs were toast & I was in a nasty 3-1 on the deck. Killed the spit & forced the 205 to auger ... after a couple of tense moments was able to evade the 38 & get a hit on his cockpit. My first & only 3 on 1 victory.
Its moments like those that as soon as finances allow, will bring me back to AH. That & my addiction to big bellybutton furballs.

Besides, those poor souls obviously needed help if they couldn't handle you on their own... :p

Mine had to be against BluKitty, both of us where in 262s.
She/he/what ever the f**k chased me back to the port as I was rtb, running on nothing but a drop of fuel, I was able to get into a great turn fight and was able to keep the inside line, lots of spuds, big boom and landing dead stick :D.
The best fights are always the ones you win.

My favorite kill hasnt happened yet so look out!:(

Shooting a Vucher in the bellybutton as I was lifting off. I had just enough to nose down in a Hurri 2c as he came screaming down the runway causing the overshoot. Snapped it back up as he flew by and just overhead....those 4 20mm Hispanos tore him up.
-
One of the funniest ones I saw. A bunch of us JG44 guys decided to go on a 262 sweep. I don't even remember who all was there, anyway we ended up intercepting a bomber mission and we all had a couple of kills. We RTB'd and everyone was on the ground and towered out except one guy. He kept overshooting the runway trying to slow down. Well we see an enemy con on radar and we're telling him to get it on the ground because he's almost out of gas and has like 4-5 kills. Well he finally get it down and just when he comes to a stop this AR234 comes out of no where and drops 3 bombs on him and kills him on the runway.
I hate to see a squadie get killed like that but it was funny as hell and we laughed about it for at least a month afterwards.
-
I happened into a low alt fight while putting around in my Spit9. I spot a low & slow F6F and decide to dive in on his tail.....so I thought. A bad misperception on my part showed me that was not his tail, as he turned upward into my dive and tried for a HO.
Through sheer luck, I received no hits or damage from Ratfinks attempt, however he recieved a great deal from me. (whew!)

I had the opposite problem last night- closure rate was so high comin in on a 190F8 (I was in a 262) that I thought I had HOed him and when he gave me a on private I was apologizing for face shooting him.
Watched the film later, was a dead 6 shot. :o

my favorite kill (no names said)
im in a 109k4 at 8k and i see a La7 and 10k he dove on to me and i made him over shoot. Once i saw he was past me i pushed throlte back up and started to go vert with him ( I know not a good idea). he was about 800 to a 1k off so i said what the hell im pulling trigger and what do u know i hit him with only 20 bullets left in the 30mm. After he blew up i was cherry picked by another La7 :( ....luckyest shot ive ever pulled off:aok

Wanting me revenge I go F4u1 75% fuel. I'm on me last 10 min of gas searching and I find said geezer on his own. To be fair his snap shot from the expected forced over shoot landed some good pings but my trusty old F4u1 climbed up an over for the head shot boom.
Channel 200 "Lucky you" :rofl
P.S now that you just told me it's manetmp I rolled up me sleeves. That barstool vulched me 3 time an I eventually chaced the 190, what ever model, he was in over 1.5 sectors in a yakU. I got killed when taking on and turn fighting 2 of his buddies and he blasted in for the cheery. I ain't forgot that.

Are you sure that Cat didn't hit you, or was it really the DU armor plating they've slapped on the Spit's engine in the game? :p
-
Like a lot of folks, any time I kill a perk plane, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside . . .
Most unbelievable: Vulching SHawk (of all people) in his CHog 5 times (4 kills, one ditch) while his horde of protectors tried desperately to catch/stop me. (I believe this brings my lifetime kill/death ratio against him to 5 / 4 billion.)
Funniest: Flying high cap on a port capture attempt. Goon is close when a Tempest appears. He has alt, starts down on me. No time to mess around and risk him seeing the goon, so I turn toward him. Surely he will pull up. Nope. He receives a face-full and goes down. I get the lovely private message: "Lamer, why you HO when you have all the advantages. Learn some ACM you Tard" I think about pointing out that I am now missing a cannon, therefore he was not exactly guns-cold, or arguing about who has an advantage in that situation, but instead just throw an on 200. PM: "I can't salute you back, bro, cause you're too lame."
A little later, same sortie, here comes Tempest toward our newly captured base. I am watching him close on my 6 -- go to try to break -- only to find in my attempt to keep him in my field of view, I had inadvertantly entered a climb and was so slow I couldn't manouver. I just kind of flopped there. Pushed the nose down, thinking I am far too late already. Hear the pings and then a "bang!". The bang is accompanied by "XXXXX has collided with you. System: You have shot down XXXXX #2." Sure enough, same fella. Throw another and expect the PM: None comes this time! Land my leaking plane.
Most recent: Some squaddies and I take off from a base where a few 262s have been buzzing about. We see one fly directly over us, but it appears to move on. Continuing to target, a minute later, we see a low dot on the deck as one of the 262s is trying to sneak up on us. He comes my way since I was a little separated from the others, and I am sure because it was easy to see the bright orange N1K. I turn toward him. Surely he will turn away, I think. No -- comes right in, gets a face full, and goes down. I turn back toward target when a squaddie says he sees a second 262 coming. I turn toward him. Surely he will not HO after seeing the fate of his comrade . . . wrong again. This guy was a bit better shot, but he still hit the ground first. :D

Well that settles it then, because they "claimed to be you" and did have the same Squadname. Kinda pathetic someone would do that though.
I hope your time away has been good <> Shane. I meant no harm by the post, I was "under the impression" that is WAS you.

my reason for leaving is fairly simple.. my j/s was getting ready to go tit's up.. and it being a MS FF2 - almost irreplaceable... I have about 5 of them in various states of disrepair, one of these days I may get around to making a functional one out of them.
Am glad to see AH alive and thriving so to speak, especially after the arena split thingy.

1- Shooting down Levi... (it was one of those perfect kills).
2- Stall fighting at treetop level in a KI 67 and out manuvering a number of attackers, I got 5 Proxy's... before crashing cause I dropped my flaps but had one missing.
3- Boom and Zooming a LA-7 in my B-26
4- Outmanuvering an LA-7 in a fully loaded A-20 and nailing him

Good Thread :aok
Hmm, dropped in on a vh in p38, climbed back high to cap and was enegaged by 262, I was working him over when i get 6 calls "CHECK THE JET CHECK THE JET!!! oh nvrmnd helbents all over him." Smoked 1 eng and some parts, but he gets away and crashes while landing or something LEVI. No was issued. He came back to kill me tho.
Completely out of ammo fighting 2 spits or niks at 2k, dive for deck, cut throttle pull one way for level flight then split ess the other, both crash i land 7 in seafire hehehe. No was isssued.
Follwing a set of buffs strating, blow most my ammo on one, staying close enuff to keep the guy looking at me, he crashes into a cliff, HA that was fun. No was issued
Few years back upon my re-emergence to AH, Just lift spit 5 and get jumped by 3 a 109 jug and spit, take em all down. No was issued.
Winning a 3v1 4v1 5v1 is the best thrill you are gonna get in this game. IMHO

Not my fav but a recent one:
last night I was over an enemy airbase, our nearest base was the one in the middle of the water on Uterus map.
Mtnman was behind me in a F4u-4 and Redtop was in a F6f, behind me as well. I was going away from my base and knew I had to reverse. I looked down for someone to target in my splt S and saw a p38 grabbing out, 2k below me. I rolled over and dove in. The 38 tried to evade but I adjusted and swatted him out of the sky. Mtnman and Redtop, in hot pursuit could only watch. The satisfying thing was that the kill was ZZ3, a guy who has been a jerk to me for years. I extended towards home, with Mtnman closing and Redtop trailing. I got close enough to base to convince them to break off but I was on fumes due to having to fly full out to keep the -4 off me. Got back to base, tangled w/ a vulching K4 who pulled his cable once I got saddled up, then landed deadstick. 7 kills. :)
Killing Shane is always fun due to his commentary. Lots of people disliked him because of his trash talk... I liked the guy, found him to be entertaining.

Hornet36 was the one who got vulched and If i remember he couldnt up another 262 after that, adding to the tragity.

S!
cant remember who it was but i attacked his lancs with my arados. dove in just above him and dropped my eggs. three kills. he was in the air and not on the runway too :D
we both had a good laugh on that one.

Any kill where I get to actually stalk the bandit, creep up, and shoot him in the back: priceless.

Favourite at the moment was long ago.
After a long period flyign Doras, i jumped back in the 109 and was jsut starting the get used to it again. I'd never used the 30mm version though, so it was a learning curve.
I took off and engaged a flight of B 24s with a P-38 escort.
After a few passes the 38 tried to out-climb me in my 109 K4, so I closed in got a few 30mm rounds into his wing/engine joint and took him down. #1
I then turned for the 24s which were up above 22k and started to climb the extra 10k i needed.
This was the first time I took the time to set up a proper bomber attack.
After a couple of long-range pings from the 24s, I quickly realised that this guy was a good gunner and set up my attack accordingly.
I dropped in and slashed away at the first bomber, taking his wing off on the second pass. #2
A comrade climbed up and tried to dead-six the 24s, resulting in a swift death.
Long story short, I slashed in with a nice wing-root shot on the second bomber, wing off #3.... I then came back in on the last bomber and set it on fire # 4
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i253/plague_06/190K42.jpg)
This was really rewarding because I took the time to really set up my attack and executed it so well that an exceptional gunner only got a couple of little pings and a scratch on my canopy.
After this I realised that I was at 26k with 2 mins of fuel and 40 miles away from the nearest base. :lol
With some careful use of shallow, engine-off, diving and some E6B watching I made it back to base, unscathed with a nice landing.
Felt like a real defence mission of sorts.

I could, and almost did post a small novel here (so filled with vengeful joy as I am right now)...but as I have kept "clean" on these boards, so I think I shall remain that way. Most gratifying night I've had in AHII was tonight. And I got him twice. Clean and neat too.
You know who you are and...
...See ya up there.

Favorite of my career? I honestly can't remember them all but I had a memorable fight about a month ago.
I got a clean merge in my Spit 16 with a 109 (don't remember which model). We turned and played for angles for a while at 10-15K. I was gaining ground on him. He was pretty good in that 109 but I knew I could beat him. Just keep playing the angles and he'll be mine I thought.
Suddenly he broke and I chased him into a defensive spiral (a rolling scissors going straight down). As we danced at full speed headed to the deck I was near blackout. Just the slightest "window" of visibility in the center of my screen. I've got to keep him in sight I thought but knew that pushing any harder would cause an extended blackout sending me plummeting to earth in what would have probably been the fastest straightest lawn dart ever. Worse yet I knew he was faster than me in a dive and now my sure kill might be slipping away from me. My airframe started to shudder adding to my anxiety but I hadn't totally lost sight yet.
Just then he made another sudden move. He broke into a slight climb about 2K over the deck. By now my heart was racing and I was thinking just a quarter turn more and I can follow but I can't push it any harder or this thing's gonna break apart. Finally. I broke, almost in total blackout, my plane barely willing to respond to controls thinking God, I hope I haven't lost him.
As I leveled and regained sight I was 600 on his six. I opened fire and hit taking him down instantly.
Once in the defensive spiral that whole chase probably lasted about 10-15 seconds but it felt like a lifetime. I don't remember who it was but that was one fun fight.

This wasn't actually a kill but a butt whooping by Yukon in the DA. We had some fun talking on 200 in LW and it came down to going into the DA. Me in a Hurri 1 and Yukon in a P-38. Yep he totally pwned me but a good education and great fun. I havent seen him since then but wanted to thank him for that.

Being under the name Ball for the first time and getting challenged every 10 mins to the DA by noobs, this one noob called CptDeath challenged me there, ok i said, why not.
So we went and i (to steal a skyrock word) *owned* him in A6M2's repeatedly, it was one of my favourites because i think that he was a shade for Voss, or Dlamb or something.

chasing a running LA-7 on the deck with a FW190A5, firing frantically with cannons, but no hits since he was already like 800 or so away.
Then, as a last salute, I fired a last short burst as he was soon out of range, a single cannon shell clipped his wingtip, he was turning upwards, flipping over and over and then auguring full throttle into the trees from less than 100ft alt.
:rofl been cheering like a maniac on that one!

Funny guy using those words like "owned" and "repeatedly" was more like fighting for your life waiting for my impatience to kick in and me make a mistake! :D I will give you this, I didn't know it was you and I was getting the best of the merge everytime but couldn't handle following you in that piece of sushi they call an airplane! Eventually ud get that infamous "PW" shot! U bastage! :furious So when we doing american planes? :noid

FIrst, Im not a very good Fighter pilot. I've been playing for about 6 months, and have my first training tonight. So basically Ive been boning up on all the ACM, and trying my best to practice, the vids are great though, cuase I can go outside of the plane, and see actually what is happening, which for the most part in the past 3 weeks, has tremendouly made my "situational awareness" mucho bestro.
So last night, some nimrod starts to flame me on CH 200, so I up his plane. Never flew one b4 and went looking for a fight, nimrod never showed up, as i figure what the hell im here lets get into it. I was several miles away from the main fight, and a f6f comes around. Im in a yak, and never flew one, but was extremely impressed with the little dood. Except for fuel. I digress. Anyway, Im doing barrels, and split S's to avoid this guy, when finally he overshot bigtime, and im on my down from a barrel, and low and behold hes right there in front of me. A few bursts, and walla, Hes not there . No kill though. Look around now this guy is below running away. WTF. :huh Catch em again, disappears. and this goes for awhile, I start saying "Dood I think your cable is loose" Finnally down on the deck, I get the message of the kill, apparently he didnt put his cable back in time to pull up.:rofl I left and as i went home, ran out of fuel.
But i got a kick out of that guy. Mostly because I actually knew where he was gonna be even though he wasnt there yet. Situational awareness. :aok

Killing an F4U, while in a Hurri IIC. After several minutes of fighting, I had an oil leak but had landed several hits on the Corsair. I was closing on his 6 and realized his prop had stopped. At that moment my engine seized. I had more E so I glided in behind and killed him. One dead stick kills another dead stick. I was killing myself laughing.

Hey Overlag, there was actually 4 262's ;-) We had just taken off and saw your blip come up on the dar....well all leveled to gain speed and hoped you wouldn't dive down on us.... You passed over and we climbed, then one of squadies who only upped with 25% fuel said he was gonna go get ya.
I hovered over the whole thing watching and keepin an eye out for high cons. Good stick handling there dude!
Salute Overlag.

I have two....
In one instance I climbed a Niki up to 22,000 feet chasing after a 262. He stayed outta gun range and I couldn't get a shot on him. Then with my fuel running low I decided to dive for home....he roled over and starte a shallow dive towards me...I pulled the nose up to just above level and let off with a burst at 1K out. I hit him in the cockpit and he went POOF! Upon landing I recieved a whooping 2.35 Perk points ;-(
The second was against a very very very very very very high ranked pilot that likes flying F4U's ;-)
My base was being attacked but no CAP was established, I upped an LA7 (base defeneder) and started grabbing alt. Then I saw an F4U and an F6F start diving in to the field from about 5K out...and they were haulin a**!!! I had about 7K feet in alt so I turned back towards base and started my dive full WEP. The F6F got blown up by ACK the F4U dropped its ord and did a slow climb out...I dropped down to the deck to stay below his 6 while I closed from 3K out.
The F4U turned a slow 180 and was climbin up when it spotted a country mate that was in a shallow climb out from our field. I "check 6'ed" him repeatedly...to no avail...the F4U blew him out of the air and continued on his slow turning climb.
One of the F4U's countrymates in a spit came diving down but missed me...thats when I realized that there was a friendly P-51D slightly above and behind me also giving chase...yes...I was target fixated on the F4U. The 51 broke off and engaged the spit...I continued after the F4U...slowly gaining on him.
Then the F4U broke up and to the left....it was now or never...so I lined up on him 400 yards out and let off a burst of 20mm's. Tore a quarter of his wing off. The F4U rolled over and dove for the deck...with me tight on his a**. Fired a burst..missed. Fired another burst from dead 6 .. missed. Fired a third time and BOOM! F4U down.
On the message window it read:
You have shot down Shawk.
;-) Proof that even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then.

I am pretty sure that was me BaldEagl. I was in a109 K4. It was a good fight. I could not get you locked in for the kill. You got position on me and all I could do was go defensive and hope you would make a mistake. I was going nuts. I remember saluteing you on 200 after the engagement. Your a good Stick:aok

Thanks. It probably was you because I think it was a K4. That fight sticks out in my mind for several reasons beyond your obvious ability.
1. Not many pilots actually use the defensive spiral.
2. When one does the attacker usually decides to hold alt and not to follow.
3. If 1 and 2 are met, the defender usually chops throttle hoping for the overshoot.
The fun part was that we did it at full speed. What an adrenaline rush. .
BTW, were you nearing blackout like I was? It seemed you had a lot better control but it might have just been the difference in planes.
-
Yes! In that ride I am always pushing the plane to the limit. I remember that fight because we were constantly trying to get position on each other and I finally burned up all my e riding the flaps trying to stay inside the spiral. It was a great fight!
:rofl
(By the way I had house on Long Lake in Minnetonka back the late 80's early 90's) Left there and moved to Chicago on a transfer. How I miss living their now.;)

My favorite kill was a proxy! This was a couple of months ago.
I was in a Niki supporting an attack on a Vehicle Base. I had used up my ammo de-acking and on GV's and such so I turned off to return to base. As I was leaving the area I passed a friendly C-47 heading in with troops. A couple of minutes later I hear the goonie pilot. "Badhorse I need help. There's a 190 here!" I turned around and told the goonie driver I was out of ammo but the 190 guy doesn't know that so I would see what I could do.
As I got closer I saw the F190 starting his run on the C-47. I dove in on his tail and he broke off the goonie. I stayed on this guys six for awhile while we twisted and turned. Well this guy twisted once when he should have turned cause he hit the ground with a very nice explosion. Mission accomplished. lol One dead 190 and I never fired a shot.
I will be the first to admit it was plain dumb luck. But the atta boy from the goonie driver made me feel pretty good.

My favorite kill was a few days ago.
Me: Ki-84...no canon left, just bee-bees defending a base on edge of the furball, at low alt vs a P-38 being flown as a turn fighter (and flown well). I think he was also out of canons.
Turn and jockey for positions. Ping back and forth. Low slow turning fight. Went on and on. Out of cannon, out of WEP, picking parts off each other's plane. And somehow we were ignored by the rest of the furball nearby (although having that many other planes near increased the tension). I even got to land it.
Against most other planes, he would have had me, but that Ki-84 is great in that kind of fight.
Wish I had filmed, or could remember which pilot it was... that was a busy night for me.... about a dozen sorties in Ki-84 that night.... often 2 or 3 kills per sortie.
Favorite kill on a stellar night.
