This is my second look at me thread. Saved this one for the last day because then it gives less time for it to go downhill so fast before I go. :p Also more faces know me in here, as I am a freeloader and avoid attracting attention in the general. For the most part...
Im leaving Tuesday afternoon for the hotel, then the next morning I start the 2 months of boot camp. I doubt I will spend much more time online. I may or may not be back after I get out and purchase a laptop. If not its been fun guys. Between ogame, hobowars, zombies, petawars, and this Ive wasted many hours. But still fun wasted hours.
Goodbye Gentlemen,
BlueJ

BlueJ
I'll email ya when the Devils win the Cup

Have fun in Boot. Make sure you're the first in your company to do the "Is that you, John Wayne?" bit when your D.I. is making a speech. It will endear you to both your D.I and the rest of the company.
Anchors away, Squiddly!!

Good luck, pay attention and learn what they are teaching you. You are starting out on a big change in your life. Thanks for choosing to serve. Few are willing to exercise the responsibilities of being a citizen to the fullest.
PS let us know how you're doing when you get the chance.

Good luck BlueJ!

it should be noted that i made a brief effort to find an image of an old "village people, in the navy" album. i was unable to find a large enough one.
instead, i found a wikipedia entry.
did you know that they tried to transition from their disco days into a new wave phase?
if any of you thought they looked ghey and ridiculous in the early days...
i hope this isnt what happens after you go into the navy.

Noooooo....not another AT:D
I was AMS (i think its just AM now..not sure)
My school was in NAS millington, TN at the time. After that I was on USS Nimitz for 3 1/2 years. Enjoyed 90% of my time in the Navy (of course I was single at the time :D ) When I went through, if you had a guaranteed "A" school after boot you could pick your orders (from what was available @ the time). Is that still how it works?
Anyways, I'm Air Guard now and have spent time going to school in NAS Pensacola. You will have fun there. There is a place call "Sammy's" that i frequented say "hi" to the gals there for me.:D
shipmate and welcome aboard:aok

Yes it still works like that. The higher you score in your class the better the orders you choose. So #1 gets first pick, and last gets whatever is left over.

Good luck BlueJ. I hope you can update us on how things are going every now and then.
You're gonna do fine.
-
BlueJ listen to what they say and you'll be okay. My Dad did 27 years in the Navy, I did 20 in the Army. My Dad was the best Squid I knew.
You'll make it!
GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY!!!!!

Watch your cornhole buddy.

The best of luck to you, Just make sure you dont get R Lee Ermey for a Gunnery Sgt. Good luck and god bless you.
-
If he's hearing a Gunnery Sgt. right now, he has bigger problems than he planned on.
-
I can still remember the smell of 50 or so nervous kids, trying to get to sleep in the first lights out. The smell of the linen and wool blanket. Shortest night I can remember.
-
I remember my 1st night of boot. I had this bright idea of taking a bunch of quarters (about $20) for the vending machines they would have. Guess what? No vending machines...
I bailed out of my rack and into my jumpsuit (Forming Company wore jumpsuits) when the D.I. as rattling the trashcan and the quarters went everywhere. That sucked because I became the first guy the D.I. remembered.
