love this part... "Because libertarians tend to be younger and better educated than the average voter, they’re not going away".
Also refers to the current GOP as "not Ronald Reagan’s Republican Party"... :)
This part was a little suprising, actually... "The libertarian vote is about the same size as the religious right vote measured in exit polls, and it is subject to swings more than three times as large." I would've thought the religous right was way larger...

thats right, librarians are very important, although most of the librarians are kinda of older.

you are missing the point... the margin may be small but what are republicans to do?
Should they say they are all for legalizing pot and heroin? Ya think they might lose more than 47,000 votes that way?
Just how do you pander to the libertarians without losing a bunch of your base?
And.... what should someone who believes in libertarian principles do? Vote for a democrat? Talk about cutting off your nost to spite your face.

tough question. I personally believe the major players from BOTH sides are equally unprincipaled and bad for the future of America. commies on one side and facists on the other, pick your poison. But for those less cynical than I am, returning to their conservative roots and abandoning the neo-con agenda might bring some libertarians back to the GOP fold.

I personally am voting Libertarian and doing my best to spread the word. If there isn't a Libertarian candidate for a given position, I'll vote for the most libertarian Republican, Democrat or third party candidate running, or not vote.
Vote for a democrat? Talk about cutting off your nost to spite your face.
Now, I see this as part of the problem. Don't play their game of believing the other side is so "bad" that you have to vote for the good guys. This is how we got to where we are today, IMHO. They're playing with your emotions and keeping you scared of the other side, all while both sides violate the Constitution almost daily. Once they've got you scared enough you don't pay attention to the details. Vote for a D if he is more libertarian the his R opponent, dammit! Or just vote L and let the D's win. Sure, it might get "worse" for a while, but we need a change to this current two-party system if America is to ever get "fixed". Heck, part of me wants Hillary to come for our guns. It might get messy, but that would be a fight worth fighting and in the long run I believe we'll be better off.

SMALLER GOVERNMENT!
Jesus christ lazs, you even agree with a smaller government and you are asking this same question?
It's simple, Libertarians believe in no government, Republicans believe in less government control, and you can't figure out what the **** to do?
****!

not "no gov't", just a very small FEDERAL gov't, ideally one that's constrained by the limits set forth in the Constitution, with EVERYTHING ELSE left up to the states. This bloated monstrosity we have now is just ridiculous. How far in the hole are we now? How bad is it when the US Mint has to pass a new rule regarding coinage because the metal in a penny is now worth more than a penny, and likewise for the nickel. At every turn we've got big gov't solutions being thrown at every problem that pops up, resulting and waste, corruption and abuse. We need to get back to basics, prune the federal gov't, get out of debt, etc... To semi-quote Reagan, big gov't isn't the answer, and usually it's the problem.

vote for whoever they figure is least likely to win? its almost like not voting at all, but you get to ***** about whoever did win later...
or you could start doing something usefull, like cutting off politicians noses.
