I have a frame rate of about 16 with my map scrolled up. And I freeze up alot when I'm in a heavy furball, or 88 fire. Is there anything that I could do or try with out buying a new sound card?
-
If you give us your system stats there are quite a few people on this board that could give you great advice. List out your CPU, amount of RAM, video card, sound card, motherboard and any others you feel are important.

ok its a Dell not sure if it is a 400 or 500 mhz, with Geniune Intel Celeron Procesor with 64 MB RAM, Sound blaster Audio PCI 64V MIDI Synth.

I can't see anything in the control panel that will show me what kind of Vidio card I have. Can you show or tell me how to locate the file?
-
Right click on the "My computer" icon on your desk top, and choose properties.
Then click on the device manager tab. You'll see it all there.

You did that? you found the device manager?
Look under video adapters (click on the plus sign)
Then look under sound, video and game controllers.
When you find them (and they ARE there), you'll even be able to find out which drivers they're using.

He must have the Dell with the 8 mb integrated video card ( it's soldered on the MB ). It's Dell's bargin model , only IMO it ain't no bargin (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) your going to have to use a pci slot to upgrade now I be thinking .( No APG slot in that PC .
I keep telling the guys at work , these models will cost you a lot more in the long run , but they always go for the best so called price (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
Gl NHFoxtro looks to me a good pci video card would help alot . I am sure someone will come along and tell you which will be the best .

Either the GeForce 2 MX PCI or the 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500 PCI.
The V5 is likely the best you can get for PCI, but because they have gone under, future support is doubtfull. Many folks have that card at the moment, and it works great, just don't plan to keep it for more than a year or two max.

With the money V5 5500 costs here you could buy a new mobo with AGP slot and GF2MX card (Or Radeon 32mb DDR).

Thx Guys (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I figured it would probably involve a new card, unfortunatly my system is leased and I don't think I can do an upgrade to it without letting Dell know about it. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Are you allowed to put expansion cards in it like a modem or a network card? If you can, the PCI video card is no different. When you send the machine back, you just need to remove your PCI video card, enable the onboard video again, and your set to go.
They may not support it if you switch to a PCI video card, but I would be surprised if you couldn't do it. At the very least, if you did something like this (adding a PCI video card), you should be able to take it back out and send it back without them knowing anything about it. The only "gotcha" is if they have some kind of seal that prevents you from opening the case without voiding your lease deal.
