The Discovery Health Channel did an hour show about my family. My wife was pregnant w/ sextuplets and they followed the pregnancy, the time in the NICU and thereafter.
On Sunday, December 17th at 8PM Pacific/Eastern they will be airing it for the first time. I myself haven't seen it so for all I know we look like a bunch of clowns. Stop in and watch if you can, if I am portrayed as a gomer you can give me a hard time about it in the arenas. :)
my ingame name is: Steve
Here's a couple of pics of what the kids look like today(really within the last couple of weeks). They are 10 months old now.
Thanks, Happy Holidays Merry Christmas!

Happy Brenna. This little girl is full of joy and has a smile for everyone. all the babies are happy kids but Brenna smiles from ear to ear.. with her whole little frame it seems.(at 10 months of age, she and her sister only weigh 12 pounds) The Dr's told she died inutero, then that she probably wouldn't make it thru her first night(irregular blood pressure), then she got a potentially fatal bowel perforation, then potentially fatal pneumonia, then potentially fatal blood infection. A tough kid, she was born at just 1 pound 6 ounces. I spent many nights by her incubator, telling her that even the the Doctors were concerned she wouldn't make it that I knew she'd be fine. I told her to worry about one breath at a time even though she was hurting and she'd be OK. 11 weeks in the NICU but they made it.

WB Steve,
I was wondering how things were going. I remember the post about the announcment. Just curious, did you recieve any community help at all or get on any special programs? I had one kid and he was enough to put me in the poor house for life, I can't imagine 6.
-
Wow, that's a lot of pooping going on there! They all look happy, that's pretty cool.
-
:)
Little miracles. Gives me a big grin thinking about them, bet you get an even bigger one. Glad to hear they're doing well, Steve.
-
Nice pics, Steve!
(it's Ron)

GAWD can you imagine having 6 two year olds or 6 teenagers in the house at one time....
sorry steve didn't mean to go there. ;)
-
WooHoo! :)
-

looks like you are gonna have your hands full for a while.

No, not all. :cry
4 did.. two died inutero and it was very tough on us... but we feel very blessed with the 4 we have.
Thanks everyone for the congrats .. it's a blast at my house.
Smokin, I finished the vette, btw.. thanks for your advice way back when.
With DR's, looks like I'll may hit the 10's!
Gunslinger, we received a couple of cases of diapers and some formula. My corvette forum buddies all chipped in at a car wash(was really nice). Other than that we have had no corporate or community help whatsoever. No programs, no aid of any kind.
Please know that we understand these kids are our responisibility and we do not have our hands out. We were very appreciative of what help we received but we've done it on our own, financially.*
Steve
*Yes, we are broke. :lol

Dang, sorry to hear that. I just skimmed the pics and figured they had.
All the best, all the same..

My preemie:
In February of 2005 my wife's water broke at 25 weeks and she spent the next 4 weeks in Akron General's Parental Unit. Our third daughter Annika was born on March 4th 2005. She weighed 2 pounds 11 ounces and was 14 inches long. Annika spent the next 7 weeks in Akron Children's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Here she is intubated; she only needed it for a few hours.
Here she is 4 months later naping on my lap as I vulched a bunch of whiners in the CT. Note that she's still hooked up to O2 and a heart monitor.

And here she is now at 21 months:

She's smart as a whip and often speaks in complete sentences.
-
She looks great! Glad to hear she does well. :)
Here's a pic of Brenna ... much the same NICU stuff. You can tell how small she is, her entire hand fits on the end of my finger.

I thought it'd be on at 6 Mountain time :( I'll continue waiting for the show...
Ooops was thinking Discovery channel, didn't read it carefully enough. Only the upstairs TV gets Discovery health
-
It's on now.
Steve looks and sounds normal; except he's talkin about his "swimmers" on national TV right now.
-
LOL
It's not on here yet. People on the East coast will see it before we do!
-
It's a good show so far. Except they just showed where you lost Brent. Even knowing that two won't make it didn't make it easy to watch.
Your wife is amazing.
Dr. Elliot rules.
I think that you will be happy with the show.
-
Magnesium sulfate is rough. My wife was on it for a month, flat on her back, bed rest in the hospital.
29 weeks: Dr. Elliot just said its time.

Steve,
I’m no doctor, but I pretend to be one on the Internet. Actually while my wife was on mag and bed rest in the hospital I took care of the older two and then would study pregnancy and preemies: every night. I learned a lot. In my opinion you and Dr. Elliot made all the right decisions. 29 weeks was a good time to come out; your kids look fine and will be fine. Congratulations.
Great show.
P.S.
If anyone wants to see a webpage devoted to my preemie’s birth, here it is:

Great show gomer..
Seriously you have a beautiful family there. Cherish the noise and bussle over the next 18 years. It really is sad when it gets quiet in the house.
-
Great Looking Kids Steve..thanks for sharing.
Congrats on everything and Best wishes for you and the whole familes future.
-
That is truly a heart warming story, plus a couple tears in the eye ducts.
Thanks for sharing that, it's truly a miracle story.
-
Just saw the show , Steve. Everyone looks great, congrats & best of luck!

Steve very nice. My best wishes to you and yours !
With that lovely family I know you'll all have a happy holiday.

Steve
This is probably a matter of personal taste/interest, but when my father had his last son (20 years after me), I suggested he take a picture each day or so, to make an animated slideshow with.
He never did it, I don't know if he just wasn't interested or what, but what I mean is that it's now or never for yours :)

Nice to hear from you , Steve!
How oh How do you tell them all apart!
-
Thanks a ton everyone for all the nice posts.
Eskimo, the strangers are calling, we have received mail now too, just to wish us well... we really didn't have anyone behave poorly, just nice people congratulating us, etc.
MT, I am really enjoying the kids. I love laying on the floor with them and playing, it's great to watch them learn.
Moot, we take tons of pictures and Stacy categorizes them by month. Good idea.
Culero, you're right, my life has been very enriched... we may be broke financially but we are very well off in the areas that count the most.
Thanks again everyone, I'm really glad you took the time to see the chronicle of our adventure. Stacy says "Thanks so much" for all the kind words, she was really touched by all the kindness. She thought we were just a bunch of armchair competitors(and we are, just not limited to that) she didn't understand our community until she read this thread. :)

Wow steve.. just read this... Missed the show. 8(
Great to hear all is well and your family is happy.. Good luck to you and yours!!

Was just flipping channels and my pregnant sister in law cought the caption of "a family deals with sextuplets" and I clicked on it and low and behold there's steve. I said "I KNOW THAT GUY"! Again congrats on the family steve. It's cool to see the after pictures compared to the show.
If you can find it "Desitin" baby powder is medicated and works great to prevent diaper rash. My son had it really bad until I found this stuff at the local commisary. Before we just used the cream alot but the powder worked miracles.
-
Congrats and good luck for the future Steve :)
Doubt that show will air here, but maybe at a later date. Discovery here is not the same as over on your end i think.
-
Been watching it Steve. You and Stacey are doing great.....very interesting show.
Good job!

Super stuff. This has been my favorite thread to read on the BBS.

Congrats, Steve and Mrs. Steve. Great family. Took my wife and I 13 years to assemble our four kids. You folks are obviously much more efficient. Seriously, you're incredibly blessed (which you no doubt know).
Eskimo: Glad to hear everythings going well. I've missed flying with you on my wing. By the way, Knife recently retired, and we're looking to get the Bucc back together for Tour of Duty. Hope you'll consider joining us again.
-
Yes; I need a new computer though.
-
Steve,
Just seen this. Congrats to you and wifey. GOD Bless your Family. It's ashamed that I missed the show...hope they do a rerun on it. I'd love to see it.
Beautiful pics of the lil Miracles.
Mac
Just outta curiousity, how come when I talk about my swimmers in public the police show up and you can discuss yers on Nationwide TV?
Just kidding.
