"It was easily the smoothest test airplane I've ever flown," said Beesley, a longtime Air Force, General Dynamics and Lockheed test pilot, who has flown the experimental YF-22 and early test versions of the F-22 and the F-117.
"The airplane worked marvelously," he said. "It flew and handled like we thought it would."
In some cases, the plane handled even better than expected, Beesley said.
"It was very pleasant to fly and very responsive," he said.

The F-22 is replacing the F-15. The F-35 is replacing the F-16, F-18 and Harrier.

They scrapped the F-22 program and are Focusing on building an airforce of LA-7's with some old russian blueprints the US government bought on E-Bay
