Title: Help! Saitek X36 and DirectX 8.0

Little problem here...

I got my Saitek X36 USB today, but the stupid software insists that I have to install directX 7.0a.  I have DirectX 8.0 Beta 2 installed, and I can't get it off of my machine!  I installed Win98 SE over the top of my existing installation, because I heard that would regress me to 6.1, but it didn't work.

Help!
