Title: Terrain Editors
Post by: SINNER on December 18, 2006, 02:49:38 PM
I don't want to be a perpetual whiner... okay I do, I want to be the BEST whiner.. but

(dodges beer cans and the like)

What is the point of terrain and cloud editors etc, if we use the same 3 maps all the time? I don't get it.

well you can go to the terrain section and see what the requirments are for a map  then build  a new map and submit it in for the game.

thats what it there for

Oh, I understand that, but since WE USE THE SAME THREE MAPS, I assume their criteria for accepting user created terrain must be pretty stiff.

well, you could go read the criteria, then you wouldn't have to assume anything :D

Actually, its not easy to build a suitable MA terrain.

My point is that we are using the same 3 maps and have been for months. Regardless of exactly what the criteria is, or how it's applied, or listed or explained, and regardless of how difficult it actually is, no maps ever make it into the game.

Whatever, I just think it's funny, that's all. Seems pointless to do them if they won't make it into the game anyway.

I'm sure it's difficult, I'm not saying that, I'm just saying we're using the SAME THREE MAPS.

Ooookay! You've got my vote!!!

Last I heard, there were at least 6 terrains in the 'pipe'. That was a couple of weeks ago and the process to check them out and try to make sure there aren't any glaring problems does take a while.

Here's a clue for you though, you don't actually have to make the map to get it approved. Draw it up, add a description of the 'features' and layout. Then email that. When they say "YES, WE LOVE IT!!", you can start building it. BTW, don't expect the build to be fast and easy....it's a slow process. :)

Map whines are the BOMB!
