My connection has been **** for a few weeks now. I lose UDP almost nightly, and normally get pissed off enough to kill the game before the udp switch happens, which sometimes takes 15 or 20 seconds. Been unabled to get back in several times. Merry xmas, bandwidthwasters!
-
Yeah I get the "lost UDP" message every once in a while and yesterday a squaddie and I both got a "white screen" CTD as well.
-
this is just a shot in the dark here but...
is sumthing wrong with servers, theyve been going down a few time this this fortnight and my conection had been googly since.
-
You don't own UDP. :p

Mine was bad for a couple of months. I'm on a wireless ISP. They finally figured out they had a setting wrong in their wireless equipment and have loss of UDP very seldom now, maybe once a month. Last month they put up a new antenna on their tower which upped my speed to a solid 1 MB/s from a flakey 512 KB/s. Ping times between 40ms and 100ms usually.
Bandwidth wasters are probably shopping for your Christmas gifts. :D

Some large ISPs have implemented QoS. Not heard of enforcing it 100% of the time, yet, but it's possible that during high network utilization low priority packets get queued or in some cases even dropped. Unfortunately sometimes, some of the UDP get assigned 'Best Effort' priority level only.

Yes, but I think my Firefox 2.0 was updating to 2.01. Have to figure out how to turn off automatic updates in Firefox.
