So if Fighter Pilots make movies, and Bomber Pilots make History, what do Helicopter Pilots make? I say, "Helicopter Pilots make it possible for eighteen year old, 11 and 12 Bravo's to return home to their loved ones"... =)
Feel free to add your own interpretation.:noid

Two in the hands is not as meaningful as one in the bush.

Helicopters make smoking holes in the ground?

Someday everyone is going to realise that hoolaboppers really can't fly....

I would say so. My dad's friend is a Medivac UH-60 pilot and flies out of Fort Irwin, California. He's over in Iraq right now, I think. But I'm sure he's doing a good service to the troops on the ground.
Are you a Helicopter pilot? Just curious. :)

There's only 2 kinds of Pilots.
Helicopter Pilots, and those who wish to be Helicopter pilots.
'nuff said:D

I'd like to see someone else fly something that wants to constantly fall out of the sky and turn into a smoking hole in the ground, cause thats what science tells it to do..
Thats what Heli pilots do daily..

They haven't finished inventing helicopters yet, but I will admit that there is one ability they have that real airplanes don't: when the pilot gets lost (happens a lot with the weed-eater riders) they can stop somewhere and ask for directions. :D

not to mention their uncanny ability to beat the air into submission.

I was given this short article when I was doing my primary rotorcraft training... it's always stuck with me.
Why Helicopter Pilots are Different
The thing is, helicopters are different from planes. An airplane by it's nature wants to fly, and if not interfered with too strongly by unusual events or by a deliberately incompetent pilot, it will fly. A helicopter does not want to fly. It is maintained in the air by a variety of forces and controls working in opposition to each other, and if there is any disturbance in this delicate balance the helicopter stops flying; immediately and disastrously. There is no such thing as a gliding helicopter.
This is why being a helicopter pilot is so different from being an airplane pilot, and why in generality, airplane pilots are open, clear-eyed, buoyant extroverts and helicopter pilots are brooding introspective anticipators of trouble. They know if something bad has not happened it is about to.

Hmmm. Helicopter pilots are making the ability to the bomber pilots and fighter pilots to survive and make their movies and history. We are both. An egg and a han. The great beginning :-) And not only for them. We are a taxi with troops and a flying APC. Medical evacution and flying TV station. Also police and firefighters. We are all :-) And we can do everything. Including the flying the fixed-wing-strange-things wich are stalling down when they loose speed. In this case we are hovering.

Sorry to bump this but.......
LOW FLIGHT
Dedicated to all helicopter pilots
OH! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;
Earthward I've auto'd and met the rising brush of
Non-paved terrain;
And done a thousand things you would never care to-
Skidded and dropped and flared
Low in the head soaked roar.
Confined there, I've chased the earthbound traffic
And lost the race to insignificant headwinds;
Forward and up a little in ground effect
I've topped the Generals hedge with drooping turns
Where never VOODOO or even SABRE flew,
Shaking and pulling collective, I've lumbered
The low untrespassed Halls of Victor Airways,
Put out my hand and touched a tree.
A rebuttal in a way to High Flight by John Magee.
The author of Low Flight is lost to me, if anybody has the name please pass it on.
Enjoy!:D
Merry Christmas All!
