Title: Worst time for something
Post by: bzek74 on December 21, 2006, 11:35:47 AM
I was just thinking about really bad timing for things to happen in game.

I saw a low flying ME 262 that just lifted, dropped from 12k in my Dora this guy had no clue I was there. Faster, Faster his tail coming more and more into view. I get to 1000 and start getting a steady line for a shot..800 finger goes on trigger...Then Blam! mason someone has invited you to join his squad...wtf. In a panic I grab for my mouse to close it out..and auger.

But does the invite to join a squad still come up??  I think thats what he said happened.

Just make your own squad ;)

You are correct .
Maybe if ht reads this he could answer if it also effects squad requests.

I would hope it does.

Yep it would be nice if that command overrides any pop up that you might get while flying.

I don't believe it works with the squad invite. Even the join commands still appear as a popup sometimes, although a majority still come through only on text.

looking for a HT pop up blocker on Google now...

When i was a numbers guy....  oh wait :huh    .....  when I had numbers only as my name I would get invites all the time from players trying to join me.

was very annoying at the time.

That's chump change.

Try drinking the last of your beer at your desk.   There are "those fights that you know will NOT be quick."   I'll pick an opportune moment to "extend" and then race to the fridge.   I have been given the "evil eye" by the wife because I have simulated "OJ Simpson in the old Hertz commericals".   Hurdling over our 5 year old sons Lincoln Log setups (being the cool dad I didn't think 1 big set was enough, so I talked the wife into getting 2) that go 3ft high is challenging at times, because there could be a moat of hot wheels cars lying on the hardwood floor.  My wife is FINALLY getting the "beer and AH" thing.   It's been almost 5 years of playing.

One time on a "beer run", I slipped on a hot wheels car, fell on my shoulder, but DID NOT let go of the beer (our 5 year old son is laughing like a hyena.  I even had a mental picture of whipping the car out of the front door and then chuckling to myself, but I didn't).   Hurt like hell for a day, but damn, that cold beer made it worth it.

I can get back perks from an augered 262, but "What if you spill a beer?"   It's gone, and that poor thing never a chance!

well to avoid the beer mishaps you could take a cooler to your flight station :) not that I've ever done that on a squad night or anything

When I was playing Star Wars online several years ago I found myself in a similar conundrum. Being only 12 at the time, it wasnt beer, but Mountain Dew and Oreos. Kept running out over the 4 hour invasion (once a week a 'country' wanted to invade and take another 'country's' planet. I was an Imperial, so I was ALWAYS involved.) so, after a year of trying to figure things out, I saved up and bought a mini-fridge, filled it with 36 cans of Mountain Dew and 4 sleves of Oreos the night before the big fight, only to find the day I finally got to try out my HUGE investment, they had money problems and the game was permanently shut down. :( $200 down the drain :(

I did, but I wanted a REALLY good one. Might as well get something to last a lifetime. It also had to be shipped so that was the bigest part of the $200...

no the popup is still there, but I think it depends on the map.   I get more than my fair share,  AirScrew, almost always near the top.  I get join request from all kinds of people.  and if they do it more than once I accept them and then roll my plane and dive to the ground and try to make'm sick...[insert pucking smiley here]

"I saved up and bought a mini-fridge, filled it with 36 cans of Mountain Dew and 4 sleves of Oreos"

I have no idea what an Oreo is, but I know Mountain Dew because it sold in the UK a few years ago, and I was at computer university at the time, and university students have a thing for mind-speeding substances.

Either you are now really overweight or (more likely) you are a stick-thin nervous-looking grown-up man who smokes constantly. Do you have any regrets?

Wait? No Oreos OR Mountian Dew in the UK?

Shoulda let the Germans have it......

Pfffft

Oreo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oreo)

3 sleeves of oreos and 36 dews is something in the neighborhood of 8300 calories, or enough to sustain a normal person for far longer than 4 hours.

Im a stick thin 14 year old. I have a taste for mountain dew and I suffer insomnia. I didnt drink all 36 mountain dews in a day, the point was just to hvae them there just in case I turned out to need them.

Ive been an insomniac since I was 4. Didnt drink Mountain Dew until I was 10. I only drink mountain dew in the mornings now, if I have final exams or something, just to give me a good enough boost to wake up. I can never sleep at night (Which is why my first 200 posts were between midnight and 2 am.) but I cant wake up during the day :(

Masher,

Any link to a news article about that injury?  There's a sports injury and a gaming weekly magazine that might be interested in the story.  A hospital visit report or bill maybe?

You obviously need to move to where it's dark during the day and light at night.
