Aces High Bulletin Board

I recently got a new computer and now no version of Aces High will work. When I double click on the Aces High icon my computer locks up right at the initial screen, even the clipboard/menu doesn't have a chance pop up. It's a solid lock up, things like Ctrl-Esc and Ctrl-Alt-Del don't do anything, I have to push the reset button.
My specs are as follows
Pentium 4 1.5GHZ
3DFX Voodoo 5 5500
Sound Blaster Live
DSL internet connection
DirectX 8.0a
Windows 98
512MB ram
All of the drivers are current, I've reinstalled them a few times today, Aces High still locks up.
Any suggestions?

Check for interrupt conflicts would be my first thought.
Run the MS System Information tool and look at the interrupt allocation. If any devices, excluding the steering interrupts, are sharing an interrupt, this might be where the problem is.
Just a thought.

No conflicts.
The only thing out of the ordinary is that my "Intel(R) 82810BA/BAM SMBus Controller - 2443" can't find the smbus.vxd file necessary for loading the drivers.
Whatever that means. It doesn't seem to be very critical since everything else works on my computer. Except my sound card which is a sound blaster live. It makes constant popping noises and the sound is generally garbled to heck. I'm trying to fix that right now, but it's a whole other story.
I looked around for information on that smbus.vxd file, couldn't find one thing. Not from Intel, not from any search engine.
