Title: Prayers Needed
Post by: Shuckins on December 26, 2006, 09:26:27 PM
Just got the following news from my mother.  The daughter of my first cousin was married this summer and became pregnant shortly afterward.

She was about five months along in the pregnancy and developed complications this last weekend.  The doctors are not sure exactly what happened, but she developed a severe headache which lasted for two or three days.  Her husband was taking her to the emergency room when she had a seizure.

Toxemia is a possibility, but the facts are still sketchy.  A caesarean section was performed, and she delivered a premature baby girl that weighed....one pound, three ounces.  The child was rushed to the Children's Hospital and is under intensive care...the mother is recovering.

Both need your prayers.

My first cousin is a precious lady, extremely intelligent and loving and totally devoid of guile.  She would appreciate any prayers that you can offer on their behalf.

Regards, Shuckins

Wish I had pics of her now.  But 21 years ago the daughter of a good friend of mine was born as  a premi that barely weighed over a pound a birth.

Would never know it to look at her now

Dear Shuckins,

Sounds very much like a bad case of preeclampsia (http://www.preeclampsia.org/about.asp), as she manifested two of the most typical symptoms.

I will be keeping both mother and baby in prayer. Could you share her first name and the first name of the baby? I know that God knows who they are very well, but it helps me enormously to pray, and to remember to keep doing so if I am able to associate names with requests.

Just as a word of encouragement, we've been praying for a for the last two months for Helen Elizabeth, who was born very prematurely due to complications caused preeclampsia. Her parents just brought her home from the NICU last Friday, and apart from some sleep apnia problems she is doing well. I'm hoping to visit her tomorrow afternoon.

Seagoon and Mosgood and Silat and Awmac and everyone who has participated in prayers for the girl and her mother....just talked to my mom and the news is good.

Little Emma and her mother, Erica, are both doing okay.  Mom says the initial problem was toxemia....but there have, apparently, been no further problems.  The child is at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, but will probably be transferred to the Children's Hospital at a later date.

From all reports, coming from the baby's aunt, who may, just may mind you, be biased....the child is beautiful.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and your concern.
