Apparently, ramming people is expected from your squad. ;)

I was sitting here today thinking I had a magnetic prop the last few days. I dont think anyone would really intend to ram..well maybe a few. Think normally its a ho with two people playing chicken and noone giving in or both breaking the same. And damnit Im never on the winning end of a collide message lol.

I mean if your not seeing shots fired during the ho then either the enemy has the attention span or iq of static cling....or yeah then its intentional.

I played AW for a long time and it was alot more relaxed than it is here.

Hoing, having alt, choice of planes, belly shots and yada yada are due to a players skill or lack thereof. Like example when I see chaingun on 200 and a Il2 up near me...I expect a ho'ing il2....Just avoid it. If Im on 200 and you see a vulching 190 a8 and engage it...expect a possible since Im probably outta e from the turn to engage.

I think when someone gets shot down they should be muted for 15 mins lol deadmen tell no tales. Would give people time to cool off if they are that serious.

story behind it....i was on a pony in a mossie....just as I popped pony in front of me...uglystik in his pony pinged me up, gave me a pilot wound...I nose down then go into hard scissors...thats when I got white message...lvled out just in time for black out.

Guess he went in due to damage, seen message when black out was over.  He said I rammed him...told him I had screenie that stated otherwise...he said he did to.

I rtb'd with 3.:p

Imagine you not having a clue....

That is Bongo's sarcasm...we have had many a good fight and enjoy a truely freindly banter back and forth.

If you get "You have collided" you WILL take damage. Usually fatal. If you get "____ has collided with you" you take no damage from the hit. He might shoot you as he flies through, but the collision has no effect on you. If you get both, you both eat it.

Think as if AH was a game like Il-2 or some such where you're the human player and everybody else is a computer player.

You watch a guy go through your windshield, or a guy goes flying through your tailfin on your computer, you take damage.
However, due to net lag from computers on the internet, what you see is nowhere near what the other players see. If you see the guy skid right under you as you pull up from a HO, but the other guy's computer doesn't get the info that you moved fast enough and he goes through your nose on his screen, he's called for colliding with you and is penalized. Note that he still could've avoided that collision even if he pulled up the same moment you did in real time, but on the internet, you'd pull up behind him.
Title: Is it really that different?
Post by: aqhawasi on December 29, 2006, 03:10:42 AM
Excuse my ignorance on this subject.  I've read many times about how what one sees on their screen is not "anywhere near" like what the other person sees on their screen.  If this is indeed the case, unless it is the the perfect 6'o clock shot with a large enough time window, I doubt any of us would be able to shoot down anyone, much less on snap shots.  I would have to guess that what I see and the person I am fighting sees must be close enough... makes sense? How much of a difference is there really on what two different people see?  Are there any thresholds? (i.e. things are fairly accurate at 100 range or over,  but no so under X range).
Any enlightment would be great.

Depending on connections, you can be hundreds of yards apart. Sit in a CV's tower during a battle sometime; you'll see guys pop up for takeoff 300, 400 yards off toward nowhere hovering above the ocean.

The reason these large differences aren't apparent is because you don't have to shoot at his location in "space," but rather if you shoot the plane that reflects him on your computer, he takes damage, even if you missed the location he sees himself at by a hundred yards.

Doesn't work that way with bullets. If you land hits with weapons on your FE it registers as a hit on them. This i why you will sometimes get shot down when to you it doesn't look like the other guy had a good gun solution. Also sometime you see tracers fly passed your plane and then BAM you register damage. Kinda sux but like the collision model it's the only fair way for it to work.
