After almost 2 years, I tried to fly in here as KupKaKe.
A. I still suck; 1.1 to 1 k/d fighter, 2/1 k/d attack.
B. 8 hrs 14 minutes for only 36 kills and 20 deaths, the game is really too boring for me.
C. Be back in a year or so to see if HT makes any real worth while changes in game play.
Remember it's just a game, and have fun!

After my bitter disagreement with John9001 in another thread, I am disappointed to admit I must agree with him here..
Leaving because you are 1.1? What? HT needs to make the game different so you can be a better pilot? Don't hold your breath.
Sorry you are impatient and inconfident here... I hope it doesn't affect other parts of your life.

If you did not enjoy playing then it would not matter if you had a 100 to 1 KD ratio...

I was hearing/seeing Kupcake on a bit, invariably bi*** about ack lethality---well there ARE 3-4X more acks, esp over town, and they SEEM somewhat more accurate, and they dont stay down long, and ya cant GET them down without several people in concert--but the amount of bi***ing ya were doin about the ack suggests you were used to getting most your kills over enemy base/vulching...which made me realize why I dont get the kills I used to....a fair % my kills were over capped bases, a scenario which doesnt happen nearly as often any more-- just have to adjust style (or fly with a crowd)

I checked, and actually I left the game in total frustration over rubber bullets in 14 Jan 06. I thought I was gone longer than that.
I have a friend who lives nearby who is an avid fan of the game. So he talked me into coming back.
One plus is that the rubber bullets are gone (no change to my computer). And they did un-perk the TA-152, I did a lot of posts suggesting that. And as I and others predicted, it didn't flood the arenas with TA-152. Just not a low slow fighting type of plane.
But I just find that flying for 15 minutes and then either getting gang banged or gang banging someone else, just doesn't cut it for me anymore. I have found some other games that are more intense, read arcadish.
Still there were times back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, and F4U-Cs were unperked, that you could find a fight in AH1 in a very short time. Massive furballs were the order of the day. Still sometimes the game was quite boring with long times between action, but for the most part lots of quick fights.
We all spend our entertainment time (not money, $14.99 is way way cheap) doing as we please. I find other games much more entertaining, and that is why I game on-line.
Still there could be furball arenas in AH. The FM wouldn't have to be compromised. May even draw a few dweebs like myself back into the paying customer base, you know, guys who just think that this is a game, and should be fun.
Historical Buffs could have the main arenas for realism, the rest of us could have a mindless furball, with fast fights, no mental output, and ...
Anyways, I will probably be back in a year, who knows, maybe the game will change, maybe I will. In the meantime I wish all of you a Happy New Year, and have fun in the game.

lol. Yeah. Fly for an hour in a bomber, then spend 12 seconds dropping bombs, and another hour back, THEN talk about long periods of nothingness. If you want an instant fight, go with arcade. The long flights and cruises are just realism. If you arent going to enjoy it, dont waste your money. Cancel your subscription and buy yourself something you WILL enjoy! And have a happy new year!

sir, here in lies your problem, perchance.
you didnt stay here long enough to find that furball. as you clearly state even in the hedonistic AH1 days, there were still patches where the gameplay lagged off for a few hours/days/weeks.
i still manage to find a great furball at least 5 times out of 10 that i log per week.
the game i fell in love with 4 years ago is still there, its just shadowed by the hordes and undefended base takers.
hope you can find a reason to play again.

Try H2H arenas. You might find it more enjoyable.
