Title: Obituary for 68KO
Post by: 68falcon on January 04, 2007, 06:51:43 AM
Here is the link to local newspaper http://miva.courierpostonline.com/miva/cgi-bin/miva?obit.mv

Expressions of sympathy may be e-mailed to Condolences@GardnerFuneralHome.com

Some people may be wondering why they see no post from me. I have tried, but nothing seems worthy or lacks a certain something. I cannot put into words the fun we have had, the disscusions over how to improve the squad, making orders for scenarios or FSO. He always put the game and the squad first. He was an inspiration to us all. So I post and delete, post and delete, post and delete.

I miss him and always will

falcon, anything you have to say about your lost friend is worthy and valid.

do not trouble yourself to find the exact words for this situation, because there are none that can do the moment any justice. thought and feeling, companionship and love can never be fully expressed in mere words.

anything and everything you have to say will be considered a loving tribute to a man you hold dear to your hearts.

chin up 68th, you guys deserve some peace when this tragic event has been finalised, untill then do not worry yourselves to say the right or wrong things.

Falcon,
You know how much JG 44 enjoyed being involved with the 68th lightning lancers, whether it be missions, FSO or just hanging with you guys. Our two squads were involved in many things together,That was becuase of 68KO. I personally will miss him. I know that you Falcon will keep his legacy alive and keep his tradition of team spirit alive. KO was an outstanding contributor to this Cyber world we all call home. His loss I know has had a significant impact on the JG 44 Nighthawks. God bless his soul.........
JG 44 will always keep a slot open for 68 KO and he will fly with us in spirit until the end. God Bless him, his family and his squad.......!

I didnt know KO nearly as well as many here. I was fortunate enough to be able to interact with him on some AvA things and even got to speak with him on the phone a few times. After getting to know him by those few encounters the news of his passing hit me like a truck.  Thats what kind of immpression I was left with by KO. You just knew off the bat he was a hell of a good guy.I dont think people outside our community would be able to understand these feelings about someone we never "met". Falcon, I wouldnt imagine trying to put myself in your position or any member of the 68th right now. One things for sure, this a better because 68KO was here.

Exactly right Slash.

Falcon, words fail me too. I find myself slipping into cliche which doesn't say anything close to what I'm feeling or what I think. I didn't know Bill very well, only talked to him on the phone a few times and had some minor dealings with him on events here in Aces High, but he made an impact on me. I miss him too.

What Batfink said.

Could not have said it better sir.

I was on the receiving end when my Daughter passed away at the age of 3 yrs 362 days old.

I remember several freinds sayin "I dont know what to say".

I responded, "You dont need to say anything, you being here is saying it all" and i would thank them for careing.

Those words alone were a great comfort because i knew they wanted what ever they said to be perfect and comforting to me and my Wife.

There are no perfect words...but all words and even simple expressions are felt as great comfort to those who have lost someone very dear to them.

S! KO
and thanks Batfink for putting into words what some of us can't

My feelings excatly. I have been at a loss for the words, but those are just about perfect as far as my personal interactions with KO. Like Slash said, if you talked to KO 1on1, you knew right away that he was one helluva guy. It also hit me like a truck. I miss him already, and probably will never stop.

Falcon, if there is anything I can do for you, just yell and I'll do my best.

We in the 71st wish you all the very best Falcon.

I flew with KO many times. Talked about alot and he was a friend in the game. Although I didn't have the interaction you guys in the 68th did , I know I speak for many here when I say We'll miss him. He brought alot to the game and to many people here a smile and a kind word. His loss to Aces High and everyone here will be felt by all.

Take joy in knowing you had time with him and got to know him as well as you did. Any words you may find will be recieved here with all the respect they deserve.

You guys keep your chins up. Keep your KO in your hearts and forever he will be a part of your lives. Thats all you can do now.

We <> you all and pray for the family of KO.

Thanks for all that you have done to let us know what is going on.

I've expressed my sincerest condolences in another thread.  :(

Would someone please tell me on which date 68KO's obituary appeared on that site?  And, what was his birth name?  I'd like to read what was written.

Thank you!

Birth name was William "Bill" Bundesmann, I'm pretty sure I recall how but I don't want to be wrong regarding such an incident.

Once again, my condolences.

Its Ok,  I Like to see people talk about Bill (68KO) my hubby! He gave alot to this game and I sure hope he isnt forgotten. He has only been gone a short time. I hate saying this but... My husband passed away suddenly of heart failure On January 1st, 2007. About 3 1/2  months ago. If anyone has any questions you may email me at  bundy28@comcast.net. If you want to see the obituary I can send you that also. This way the answers your seeking will be the correct ones.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, friend, squadmate and CO. He was very much dedicated to this game AH. I guess thats what brings me here, I know what it meant to him and I miss him so much. For some reason I feel a little close to him here.  Our kids and I are just trying to hold on to anything that brings us closer to him. We are missing a big part of us!!

Maybe I shouldnt be here, I dont know.

Thankyou,

Sue

If being here helps you feel close to Bill then by ALL means you should be here. Your presence also helps all of Bills friends. It goes both ways so keep your chin up.

Bill had many friends here and those people don't just go away, they're your friends now too, and I know we're not that easy to get rid of. We're kinda like a fungus that way:D

Stick around........please???? Some of us may be a little crazy but we all care.

Sue,
You definitely belong here.  I've been on rarely the last few months.  But, I was intrigued to see someone logged in earlier today with 68KO's name.  When I asked, the others told me that you (his wife) were logged in, and I was very glad to hear it.

Welcome to Aces High.  Your husband made a difference while he was here--in everything from leading missions during scenarios to organizing the racing league.

His name deserves to live on here.  :)

You know, I just ran across this post... I had no idea 68KO was gone.

I did a senario a couple years back, may have been Midway, and I was CO for a TBM squad. At the time we had no Kate so used the TBM as a substitute. 68KO was in my group, we had I think 10 pilots so I broke us up into 2 groups and 68KO was in my small group. We made a couple of practice sessions where I showed everyone how to line up the CV coming in from a 90 degree angle and the propper distance to release the fish. I knew the fish worked just fine and that with the right technique we could pull off sinking a CV, after our practice sessions 68KO was a believer too.

On the day of the senario we took off on our mission looking for our target and about 30 minutes into the event we ran across about a dozen F4F's that we had an altitude advantage on. I made the decision to attack the F4F's and we dove on them. We downed 4 or 5 of the 12 as the rest ran for the deck, not a bad start for 5 TBM's still loaded with fish!(also there was much whining on the event BBS afterwards because the Kate doesn't have forward firing guns) We continued on with our mission and eventually did locate the CV. We dropped from about 15k to the deck, and lined up for our runs nose to tail when were jumped by another group of F4F's. I forget who the tail end Charlie in our group was but they got whacked real quick but turned into them giving the rest of us time to drop our fish. My torp missed but 68KO's hit, we them headed for home while being chased by F4F's. I eventually had to ditch with a pilot wound but 68KO made it back.

I'm so very sorry for your loss guys, I'm half a world away and lose track of the days because I feel like I'm living in the movie "Ground Hog Day". Just thought I'd share my recollection of 68KO with you.

I forget which squad 68KO was apart of then, was it SOG's or... can't remember but he introduced me to his squad that I ended up joining for some time.

That's how people we loved are still with us, remembering them through the times shared.

I have to go looking through some of my films from 2006.  I was a walk-on in 68KO's group in one of the events.  He and the rest of his guys made me feel so welcome and invited me back.  I'd flown with 68KO on other occasions--always had a good time as he led the way.

Needless to say, I was absolutely stunned a short time after my last flight with him to find out he had passed on.  Still seems unbelievable.
