Under normal game conditions should a Il2 beable to survive a direct shot in the cockpit area from a t34 with AP 400 out? This has been bugging me for 3 weeks now...time to ask the masses.
-
I would have thought the answer was an obvious No! No plane or pilot should be able to survive a cockpit hit from a T34, even if it IS AP rounds. Im taking this has happened to you, with you being the T34 in question?
-
Yep I might disclose who the Il2 was *cough bish* I hit him dead on camping the runway saw the ping flash right under his window behind the engine...and off he flew! I wish I had filmed it.
-
maybe its better you never. The stream of profanity coming from you would have been banned! Lol. Unlucky. Maybe its the same as bullets. Ive often had bullets pass just inches from my nose in the cockpit, just goes straight through, just missing me. If so, darn good shot but just really annoying it missed. Thats the only thing I can think of!
-
Did his engine leak oil after hit?
-
nothing at all happend. I believe this is the same Il2 that later that night I unloaded on with all guns from my A8 ( I use the 30mm package ) and didnt lose a piece or even smoke. I know for sure who the tank hit was...cant be sure who the other il2 was.
-
Just because you saw the hit flash (a single data point mind you) doesn't mean the targets FE recognized the hit. Chances are that little bit of data didnt cross the great divide in a timely manner, because if it did, the IL2 would be dead. Right?......

The other FE does not need to recognize it as a hit.And there is no way the hit can get lost. Ill take a look at the math outcome when I get a chance.

wow, You got Hitech Himself on it! WTG! Hope it all gets sorted!

I've popped an IL2 in the nose coming at me while in a panzer using AP , he went by by real quick, now as for side shots I've done that too in a T34 but I always try to aim for center mass, and POP hes dead
-
really wasnt a great divide I was right off the side of the runway.
-
Im agreed should have been dead

they were talking about the divide of the internet. you could be on one side of the world,. and he on the exact opposite for all we know...
but that idea was debunked by HiTech himself so it is irrelevant now.

I've only done that one time and it was back in AH1. I saw an IL2 headed directly at me so I jumped into the gunner's position in my Panzer and loaded up a AP round and fired at the IL2 as it came straight at me. The shot hit it dead smack in the nose and BOOM! Dead Voss.

how did you get your panzer up into the akakosphere?
-
I've hit IL2's before with maingun rounds and had them toodle off...fairly small pool to judge from (the actual HITS) but them seem to survive an abnormally large % of them--abnormally meaning anything above zero:eek:

You should see a specialist about your obsession with me. Battered Dweeb Syndrome can be treated with counseling, I suggest you seek some help.
You're dismissed Storchita, now go play with your little dolls.

I've had the same thing happen, but if you use HE they will not survive.
-
Ive had a round from the big guns on the CV cruiser pass straight through my cockpit before while taking off.
Scared the heck outta me.
Weird stuff

I've seen il2s take a shot from a panzer straight into the nose with no visible effect as well.

See post on collisions! It's the same principle. Those who's front end saw it hit and those that were shot at's front end did not see/register the hit. I've had it a gazillion times as sometimes I shoot the bear with my tank gun and sometimes the bear shoots me with his pea shooter but I saw it hit him square in the nose with a 75mm tank round long before he started firing.
All the Best...

well its well known im crazy lol and yeah i know it was it a joke after i realized it I called the hitmen and told em it was all good. =p

Il2s amaze me, they turn like spits, roll off the runway with "e" and are almost completely impervious to 30mm.

Hmmm.....
Now I have a question. In one of the very few times I get in a GV, I lined up on a flakstranded when we captured a base> He had been previously pinged and was immobilized, so it was a matter of getting the distance and pinging away.
I got hits on my 2nd or third shot, but the little feller wouldnt go down. I saw 4-5 flashes from my rounds, and figured that it was just a matter of time till he died, that I must have been hitting his already destroyed turret or something.
When he finally popped, I saw the weirdest thing ever -- he warped several hundred yards to the right and towards me, ending up on the base behind me. There was a nifty smoke trail from his blow turret and track, and then he was gone.
The other guy there, who go the kill, saw it too. But the weirdest thing was that I didnt even get an assist. We were the only ones there.
SO what happened?

P-38 guns seem to have no troubles removing a wing or any other vital part from an IL2. Kept on killing some guy in an IL2 last night in a P-38J. Each time all it took was a single solid burst of my 4x .50 cals and 20mm and the wing was removed at the root.
