2 months off and you bound to be a little rusty. gators woulda played them a month earlier it wouldn't have even been a game. OSU would have destroyed them. you can't hold a team 51 days without playing and expect them to be on top of their game. there should be an asterick next to the gators in the record books.

Although I will say they shouldn't have delayed the game this long, it wouldn't have been any different.
Florida's speed negated everything OU wanted to do and the OU coaching staff didn't have an answer for it. If you can't watch film for 51 days and come up with something, what makes you think they could do it in a week or two?

So why didn't OSU loose the first game of the season then????
They had 180 or so days from beating Notre Dame in the same bowl game last year and even had 60 or so practices during that time (counting spring training).
If only you knew anything about playing college football other than what the mindless sports casters on ABC/ESPN spewed out about how great the Big Ten was this season. Honestly it doesn't matter how many days off you have. The last week before THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME you should bust your tail to get ready. Just face it they were not ready because they let the media talk them into the giants who were going to stomp on Florida.

I would wager a pretty good bit of money that if they played 10 times Florida wins 7 or 8 of those games easily.
By the way OSU is 0-9 against teams from the SEC!

Did you guys hear before the game the media talk up the wisdom of jim trestle? oh yes, by far the best big game coach in the country. no doubt, meyer and florida are at a big disadvantage because of trestles experience, etc.
heh, how bout going for it on yer own 30. DOH! The playcalling in general was surpring, especially abandoning the running game when they did.
This was a buttkicking of monumental proportions. 82 yards of total offense? heh?
Oh, but no fear, the beloved buckeyes only fell one slot to number two.
If that kind of pummeling would have happened to say florida or lsu, I'd bet they'd tumble a good 5-8 positions, not the beloved buckeyes though! I saw on espn earlier that the buckeyes are expected to be next years preseason numero uno!

You can't even come up with a reason why it would be any different, you are in denial. Again, they had 51 days to watch film and prepare for Florida, and they were not prepared for Florida's speed. They didn't do much to spread them out or slow them down, they didn't have an answer.
Give the Florida players and coaching staff credit, they did their homework and executed on the field, bravo.
Who would beat who if they played 10 times? Who cares? Back in 2001 the Rams might have beat the Patriots 9 out of 10 times, but it was the Patriots who were prepared when it counted and the Rams who were not. No matter how many times you read the history of the NFL, the Pats will always be world champs in 2001.Most games are won before the game is played(the defensive game plan of the Patriots in SB XXXVI is in the NFL hall of fame)
Florida was the better team when it counted.

The Team "named after a nut" got theirs arses PUMMELED behind the woodshed. The quickest way to end the pain and suffering? Stop denying that there were better teams.
OSU deserves to be about 8th after putting up a PALTRY 82 of Total Offense.

because they played northern illinois first game of the season. Florida is good but OSU is better. as to everyone else you cant have 51 days off and come back at the top of your game. no amount of watching film or practice can match the game situations and speed and feel for of an actual game. 51 days without that = rusty. that game would have been a month sooner it would have been way different.

If OSU was a good as you say, then why were they blown out? One (1) offensive touch-down. :eek: A 51 day layoff or not, they should have been able to score, at least, another couple of touch-downs if they were as good as you say.
Dec 2 was the last game for the Gators. OSU's last game was Nov 18. Gee a big :rolleyes: 2 weeks difference.

No amount of film watching can come up with a game plan for Florida? Rusty had nothing to do with it, being unprepared had everything to do with it.
I'll say it again, OSU used pretty much the same game plan as they have all season, and why not, it always worked. But when Florida's speed(which the OSU coaching staff should have seen on film and come up with something to deal with if it was a problem) trumped it, they didn't have an answer.
You figure they would come out in the second half with a plan..nope. I guess they thought the first half was a fluke, it was almost arrogant. That or the coaching staff is overated.
If I am correct, Florida didn't play for almost a month either, they didn't look too rusty to me, they looked prepared.

LSU beats Nr 11 and moves to Nr 3
Boise St beats Nr 8 and moves to 5/6
Boise St goes 13-0 and is Nr 5 AP 6 USAToday?
At least they get a (single) vote for Nr 1 in the AP poll.
