Using the default small airfield object, the spawn points on both ends of the runway are a few hundred feet off of the runway. I tried manually placing my own spawn points in the terrain editor, but the default ones override them. Is there any way around this?

I just checked this and spawn points are where they have always been. Fighters are in front of the first AA gun and bombers are at the end of the runway. Which is correct.
If you're in the cockpit and it looks like you're on something other than a runway double check that the field is on level terrain at all 9 points in the TE.

I found the problem. I had rotated the airfield to align the runway in a west to east direction. Apparently, that's not a good idea. It looks like I'm stuck with a northwest to southeast direction.

That would do it.
If you absolutely must have an east/west or north/south runway use a medium airfield.

Or if you're making an 8-Player terrain, simply make your own airfield using the OE, that way you have what you want.

I tried that but my hangar and tower didn't work and my aircraft exploded upon spawning. I used the small airfield based and "runway1." I'm a complete noob at map making; I just wanted a map and now I have one so I think I am giving up. Thanks!
