Title: Which XP?
Post by: Halo on January 08, 2007, 03:22:47 PM
In general, or in specific, which XP do you prefer and why?

I'm happy with XP Home Edition on my two computers, but I might replace one of them BEFORE Vista comes out to avoid that new system hassle in its first year or two.

Many current computers have XP Media Edition as well as XP Professional and XP Home.  For a home computer user, I'm guessing any of the three XP versions would be fine.  Any no-nos with any of the XP choices?

I do mostly e-mail, internet research, photos, word processing, spreadsheets, and some graphics, music composition, and games (mainly Aces High and Flight Simulator).  I do not view TV or listen to radio on my computer.

Oops, just saw neighboring Which O.S. thread which is basically same question.  So disregard if your answer would be the same as in that thread.

As before, from what I've read, my premise is don't buy more operating system than you need to avoid needless complications, e.g., avoid XP Media Edition if not going to watch tv on computer.

XP Pro Corporate here, has SP2 built in, no calling back to Bad Bill to verify licence , etc.  Pretty much install it, tweak it once, and forget it.

Agreed, XP corp sp2 is lean and mean.
