I would love to try AH out, but every time I try hit ONLINE.. I get a hard lockup that requires rebooting. OFFLINE works great.
I do a lot of online gaming and have no problems otherwise. Has anyone else seen this? I tried reinstalling several times and doing a couple of regcleans. Ideas?

Did you sign up for an account yet? I believe you have to first. Should be able to do this with the Administration tab I believe. Even though you get 2 weeks free, you still have to give them some information before you can go online.

What is your connection method? Is the lockup hard as in your mouse cursor is frozen or is it just waiting for the connection to go through?

It is a hard lockup.. bigtime. It happens *before* I can actually put in the account name and password.
I use ISDN for dial-up stuff

Are you connected to your ISP prior to running AH and going online?

Yes, connected and ready to go. I actually got in one time as far as where you select the arena.. and then it locked up hard again.
My ICQ is 5559209 if you care to chat more directly. I appreciate your help.

This is a pretty weird problem that I haven't seen before. The next thing to try would be deleting your setting directory in your AH folder.

See my lockup post, Pyro. May be a similar problem, though I usually get in and fly for awhile before my hard lock-up occurs.

Folks, I may have resolved this. I deleted some stuff on the drive where AH is located and then did a complete defrag. I am able to get in now and play. As an IT guy I can see how defragging can help.. but not sure how a moderately fragmented drive can cause a hard lockup. Oh well...

I used to work on electronics. We always explained weird stuff like that as FM (the M standing for magic). (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
