Or do you all just run away if you can't set up a no-risk HO or catch someone unable to fight back?
I just spent the last hour and a half chasing running Las and high alt pickers who don't engage even with a 2:1 numbers advantage unless you are deadstick and 10' off the ground (not naming names here spatula) and run away as soon as you look like you might be able to fight back.
90 minutes, 5 sorties, 1 kill, 0 assists, and 1 death to being picked after losing my engine to flak. If this is the way its going to be (since its been like this just about every night for the last few weeks), you can have it. :furious
I know this thread is going to be locked in less time than it takes a N1K to set up a HO and run, but I'm sick of putting up with this same crap every night and playing all nice about it. Had about 4 days of good fights in the past few weeks, all between 6pm and Midnight eastern US time, other than that its nothing but a HO-and-pick fest the other 18 hours of the day. So annoying that when I get home from work in the morning I don't even bother, I wait for my days off so I can fly against people who actually want to FIGHT BACK.
-
there is a simple phrase 'fight fire with fire'
if you see that its dweeb hour in the main, then fly like dweeb yourself.
grab a PonyD, La7, 190D, tempest or maybe even a 262 and go have yourself a pick fest.
when you do find a few guys willing to fight a good fight, then bail out and grab a P40b.
;)

I'm fairly new to AH and I posted recently that I was tired of getting shot down all the time. Got a lot of positive feedback and encouragement. Now I just up and go for it, try to learn as much as I can and not repeat mistakes. I am having a blast because now I don't worry too much about jumping right in and mixing it up. So I tend to agree, because I have seen some of the same stuff and I thought it was just me. HOs happen, it's life I'm finding in here. But I thought I was supposed to try to get on someone's six, not their twelve! :lol
See you up!

Was my thought exactly. I jumpd into an La7, but puked all over the dash and gunsight before I was even rolling down the runway.
It was safer to just ditch it than attempt to clean it.
-
Since the influx, nothing but extremely timid ponies and dora's. The la7's I generally come into contact with, will at least will turn once or twice before running, which is enuff for me 50's to shred em! But the time I waste setting up reversals on those ponies and dora's only to have them nose down and run is just pathetic! They won't even take ur 6 usually if they don't have a buddy or two there to help them! I can't tell you how many "ownage" films I have of them getting pwnt by me 1-hog!:aok
-
i think alot of people are scared of all the 109s, 190s, and f4u s you see
filling the ah skies these days.
there must be millions of em!!!!
oh yeah!! don,t forget all the spits!!!
-
Hey Treize the kill you got from about 20 minutes ago wasn't so bad, you even had 3.5 inchers under the wing and managed to assist me putting a big hole in the ground. I don't even think you had to fire a shot...I was that A6M if you don't remember :D
-
I agree with you Treize for the past mnth or so i have had the exact same results as you have but i cnt up a la7 i just cnt do it that would be too easy.
I used to just let the ho artist/pick artist get away with it and not say anything but for the past few week i have been getting really angry about it because its happening so much, even really experienced pilots (you know who you are) are upping la7s and hoing everything in sight even if they have the numbers.
I get called a dweeb for flying a spit 16 but at least i turn and fight i dont run unless badly damaged or outta ammo and i hardly ever go for the HO shot.
Decided to take a few days off the game to calm down coz the fun factor had gone, hopefully all will be well again in a few days.

Come over to MW:aok

Sigh... a whole new generation of noobs to ejumikate...
it's the personality, not the plane...
-
Here's a suggestion:
Go into the fight at 15k altitude with plenty of speed, prepared to attack. Maybe that extra five minutes of climb out is just too boring of a way to play, but it will get you a fight. Not everyone can or will run.
Once you've blown your altitude, prepare for all the dora's, p51's, etc. to attack you. That's when the fun starts. If no one is there to attack you, climb back up and look for another victim, er fight. Altitude equals options and speed equals life.
No, its not a furball but those typically don't last long in the MA anyway.
Regards,
Malta

Yes, I remember Ghost, you had me dead to rights but didnt kill me (holed my right wing up pretty bad though). Was preoccupied trying (unsuccesfully) to get the Panzer rolling into the base and never even saw you coming. Would have definitely given you a
if you'd pulled that one off, caught me napping. :)
Sadly you wer the only aircraft who engaged me that flight, including the Typhoon who kept pulling his nose up and running like a bat out of hell whenever my B-Pony got within 5K of him.
-
Yep,
I will HO if I up at an airfield that is being over run, but in a one on one fight, if during the first pass the person tries an HO I'll leave the fight. Call it running or what ever, it's just no fun.
So I sit in a ack gun most of the time, tank plink or race jeeps down mountians. ZZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOmmmm
-
Well, this reply wont make me popular, but here it is. I play this game because I enjoy the challenge. There is just as much challenge in lining up a shot while diving from 10k as there is in turnfighting 1v1 to me. Maybe its because I suck I dont know. Simple fact is, object of the game is to up your plane, kill the other guy, and dont let him kill you. I mostly fly a Hurri 2c, so Im not outrunning anything. You show me your prop or your tail, doesnt matter to much to me, my objective is to kill you. If that means HOing im ok with that. If you turn fight me, Im ok with that too. If you dont want to get HOed, turn your freaking airplane and dont go head on with somebody. If you dont want to get picked by somebody diving from 15k then keep and eye up and when you see them diving turn hard when they get to 1.5k. Most likely they wont be able to turn with you. If im in a 109G14, Ima Boom-zoom-climb. If im in a Hurri2c, Ima turn you into the ground. Its part of the game. Play the cards your delt or dont. Up to you, if you want to pay 15 dollars a month to sit in a field gun or drive a jeep down hills thats up to you. Me, I will adapt my fighting style to what is neccessary for me to kill you before you kill me. War is hell, change is worse, throw them both together and you get adventure and learn some stuff!!|
-
Gaidin, we're not complaining about people dropping on us from on high, we're complaining about them being above you and NOT coming down. I was climbing out with a P-51D and a Typhoon at least 5,000 feet above me, and they both turned and ran.
And my complaint isn't getting killed by HOs (since most people can't do them right anyway, just knock off an aileron or the rudder. Kick rudder and they are lost), its the ones who scream down nose to nose and then pull up and disappear when they have every advantage.
No one wants to fight, they just want their easy kills with the least possible chance of a challenge.
Like chasing Propdog in his Lancasters through 3 sectors earlier only to have him bail as soon as I get within icon range. WTF is the point of flying all that way just to bail out as soon as you see a fighter??
-
I hear ya. I think an La-7 on my six is better than me on an La-7's six or no La-7 at all.
-
treize...i agree with you, i fly my tiff, and evertime i engage with a spit, la or hurri they 9 times out to 10 go for the ho shot, and if they cant get ya in the ho, they ram ya any chance they get. i will see some 109's or 190s and sometimes ponies and they will have alt advantage on me, i just kinda wait and see what they do, mostly they try to bnz and the whole time i'm avoiding their shots, they eventually end up burnin their E and once they discover that they lost the upper hand and i'm on their 6, they run. i used to chase them down, but now, y waste my time chasin after dweebs. i fly mostly after 10pm, sometimes i'll b on earlier than that but mostly them are my hours. let me know if ya wanna fight, i'll b more than happy to put a good fight. i too am sick of the ho'n ace pilots. a good fight is hard to come by. but they ARE out there.

PERK THE LA-7!!!!!!!!!!!! Grass roots effort starting right hear again. If AH will listen to many other voices and change arena's around then i say PERK THE LA. It is the only real choice when you think about. Every swinging dink in the LW arena's with his brand spankin new 2 week free account says "whats good to fly". People say "well the La7 is ok to fly". "If ya get in trouble just run" hehehehehhe:furious Will never undestand why the F4u4 is perked and not the La7. And while your at it perk spits, goons and Betty.
-
i hear yas phazer. dj111 told me him and another gent used to take m8's (i think) and fly down hills and jump cliffs to see who went the farthest. sounds like fun :aok
i have been having some great fights lately but there are always some out there who still dont get it....... if i'm in a p-51b and there are two cons below (lead and wingman) you have to fight to your planes ability. sure, i'll turn fight but what are the circumstances? p-51b vs 2 spits? down low or up high? pass and extend, work down their e is what i would do. maby those two cons are hvy and otw to pork or light and otw to stop a goon. if i get em down and occupied, i've accomplished my mission.
also i'd like to say something about channel 200. it bytes
other day i was called a noob for shooting down his afk plane. too funny. this morning i get called ack hugger because two planes were vultching a field and i could not get alt or e. when i finally did, i got in a great fight with 1 of them only to be hosed by his buddy. ohh well. what really ticked me off was there was no positive comments from the con i was engaged with other than him calling me an ack hugger. i did say gk to his wingy. ohh well. btw, i dont need a medal or wtg but if all you can do is bad mouth someone, dont say anything at all. go on your merry way.
my 2 cents? lighten up francis and have fun (to the angry name callers). if they run, let em run. no biggie. if they hug ack, yippie. 9 times outa ten they will do what u expect them too. just have fun.

I guess to me the only thing I like about this game (besides the community its self) is the interesting angles in a dog fight. Weather they be large or small, fast or slow makes no difference. The more angles the better. Without angles fights, this is just another boring shoot em up war game. After 4 hours tonight I found 1 good angles dog fight, and about 3 or 4 that were half way good. I was forced into having to BNZ from 22k just to survive. Boring! I Hate that style of fighting.
The trouble I have is that once I find a con and start a fight that is fun and worth while, I get ganged by 5 others before the fight hardly even starts.
I can reverse 1 or 2 guys coming at me from 20 k, but I can't reverse 8 or 10 of them. I spend most of my time trying to "drag" a fighter away from the 20k altitude hoard just so I can dog fight him. But then they run and I have to chase them or try another "drag." Its the way the game is made. The altitude and the number of people at that altitude, and what they do up there, is out of hand. You either join them up there or die real quick.
I know what I would like to see happen, that doesn't have a chance in hell of happening. I would like to see the DA get a points system same as the MA. If it had points, people would want to go to the DA. Then I would like to to see a celling cap put on altitude so everybody doesn't just keep trying to fly higher than everybody else just to get an E advantage. People that want a good angles dog fight would be able to find one.
-
why perk me.......what i did? hehe
i'm sweet and innocent....perfectly harmless :D

I had a vet in a ki84 hover 5k above a fight yesterday and he woundnt come down unless you engaged someone else. thats all he did hover and wait till you where engaged. and when you get co alt with guys like this they dive and run for their lives. I could understand a noob, but a vet in a KI84 and is afraid to come down and play. Its getting pretty sad, the fear of loseing a cartoon airplane. Id name the guy cuz alot of you know him and he flys nikis but im sure he would cry and say he didnt but there are like 10 people that seen it. he hovered without attackin for a good 10mins without attackin then when his country mates showed up and mixed it up he dove on the guys that engaged. To funny

The LARGEST SINGLE PROBLEM with AcesHigh, imo....... is that everything blows up so easily. Just give them a tap with your four Hispanos (insert favourite ord here) and they go boom. This feature feeds the run (self preservation) mentality.
If the game was justa little more difficult (lethality wise) to kill other players I think more people would stick around for a good time drag down scrap em up fight. Thats what I remember most about WBs....you could get into an extended fight, lose parts...start smoking and still be alive to have a decent chance at turning the tables. This happens so rarely in AH, at least for me.
But lethality settings are HTCs call, not mine.

its so true.
for you noobs that don't know, shane is the legendary la7 pilot of days gone by that would always make me laff with the phrase:
"you castrati not bad 5 on 1"
not only would shane humiliate me in any plane in the main arena and then laff at me openly on public channel 1, but he would often spare me some time in the DA to help improve my shockingly bad flying to a more respectable level.
the community as a whole is worse off for not having players like shane around.
Batfink <------shane's number one castrati ankle humper. :D

I don't think any fighter size AC can withstand a 1/2 sec burst of cannon.
Especially 4X hisookas.
As far as runners go.
Mehh... I have given up trying to chase them.
I now let em come to me and my frilly pink spit Mk IX.
Hell it's pink!!! :O Why would you run from a pink AC?:huh

Makes 3 here. Shane was a kewl cat! He was very nice fellow in the DA and liked a good fight! Last time I saw him on, we were flying to this base and getting ganged by Kermit and friends. We were flyin hogs I think and otw to the base he started tailing me so I tried to reverse him and we fought for like 5 minutes like that! Shane could help the MA by juist being Shane! That way I would nt have to do all the noob smacking around here! :D

I remember that night. A bunch of bks were flying together and I remember diving in on 1 of them (4 were flying together) and happened to kill stang right away. It was funny. Before you know it, a furball happened with both sides being equal. Then the country I was on gained the number advantage 3 to 1. That's when stang and shane upped la7s and started flying through the horde keeping their speed, killing whoever didn't see them. They both racked up aprox. 10 kills each.
For some reason, shane kept outturning my typhoon, in his la7, and killing me. He's a good fighter.
-
Well the typhie's got piss-poor turning capabilities, the la7 is one of the better turn-fighters in the game. No wonder.
-
I don't think we should blame the plane.. I used to hate the Lala and the spixteen...but now I just chock it up to immaturity. Some people will be dweebs in whatever plane you give them, and if you let them, they can ruin the game for you.
Some people are idiots in real life...so they will be idiots in the game. :( To me, that's why a good squad is so important.
-
rofl, do we fight? well i do always, never runs, rtb and i say it on ch200 mostime to, calls what cons infront of me, and usaully get a reply to, been flying il2, 80% of time for chits and giggles, so why run?? to fight till no ammo or damage, FLY IY LIKE YOU STOLE IT! Great fights to all ive encountered lately

make that 4, shane is very helpful an intelligent as well as proficient in cartoon games. an asset to the game.

*sigh* Has it been that long? There is a thread like this every couple of months.

LOL, nice one...
I recall the incident your mentioning. Why you make such a song and dance about it is beyond me. FWIW, that particular incident, my wingman and I were trying to defend a base which was being totally overrun (at some points it was easy 10:2 or so), so i come in with alt, prioritise my targets, and my ordering of priority puts fast planes like P51s and 109K4 and La7s at the top of my list. I see a P51 and a spudfire hacking at the town, so i nose down take a run at the P51 (my #1 priority target) and i see it was smoking (hit from town ack probably), and i sure as h*ll aint going to leave it alone, so i shoot it down. Turns out it was you Treize (not mentioning names either).
I don't see how this can be SO upsetting for you to come on here brandishing names about the place to try and discredit people. Seems to me you got tagged by ack and got yourself in a bad position and paid for it. I didnt choose your a/c cause i knew you were damaged and a soft target, quite the opposite: i choose your P51 as i assumed, initially, it was the highest threat to me.

Don't let it bother you too much Spatula, for some people, whining on 200 simply isn't enough.
When the original poster said he wants people who fight back what he is really saying, without ever admitting to it, is that he wants people to play the game the way he wants them to, not the way they want to. By saying, "You can have it.", he adds the requisite, "I am going to quit." whine.
What's really nice about this whine is that it actually has some merit. Everyone w/ even a basic knowledge of arena tactics and ACM find the "HO and go" tactics to be less than fun. The sad, immutable fact is that the arena is full of people that are completely satisfied w/ jousting. They'll take their one kill, go down in flames themselves, and consider it a successful flight.
Many people laud the new, more "realistic" flight model of AHII over AHI. I'll not argue this point but submit the following possibility: since the more advanced flight model is more difficult to become proficient in than the old, many newcomers are less willing to invest the time to learn good combat tactics and thus we are left with even more "HO and goes" than ever. I'm not stating this as fact or even my opinion, but it certainly is a possibility.

Storch,
Renamed the squad. Handed the CO position off. Learning how to fly\fight better, without distactions of the CO spot. Finally got a long timer in to train us. Doing well. .

I've been having a blast the last couple of weeks. >S< for the great fights
Imo, whats lacking in the game is characters. I really enjoy roleplaying and making up characters like Monster0. Whats even more entertaining are characters like shane and Skyrock. In no way do I want to play a real game with real life people in it. I fly in a fantasy world called AcesHigh 2 with cartoon planes that have characters flying them. Then again I always mention We because we are all dweebs. If not just ask your lady what she thinks of you when your holding a throttle and joystick in hand. Making funny faces and noises and twisting your neck at a lcd screen.
-
she thinks you guys are all dweebs, she wonders why I don't watch lifetime network, WE and cinematherapy with her.

Here's an easy cure for you delima, fly a slower plane, I guarantee that you'll attract lots of cons who want to have an OTD knife fight.
Fly a fast plane fast and you are the one, most likely, who detirmines if the fight is on. If you get low and slow then picked there is only one to blame, yourself.
SA is much more important that plane type, IMO.
Even with the new changes, ones I really don't like, I'm having just as much if not more fun than ever before. Lots of good fights and fun are to be had if you want them.
YMMV naturaly.

All this whining about HO'ing is soooo boring.
The majority of the time I see people moaning about being HO'd, its from an encounter where both planes are turning hard trying to out-maneuver one another. They end up turning into each other, both take the shot, one wins, the other squeals on 200.
I don't see the problem with the above situation. I'd never deliberately engineer it as reduces my odds of winning the encounter to - at best - 50:50, but if it happens (and from time to time it does) I'm damn well going to take the shot rather than wait to be shredded by the other guy.
The other situation that comes up regularly is with b'n'z'ers. Their intended target turns to meet the attack, thus setting up the HO. At this point, both players have to realize they jointly engineered the situation. The attacker has the opportunity to pull out of the attack and set up again. The defending player usually has other (often better) options to defend. If they both press the HO, they have to accept there's a strong possibility of coming out second best i.e. don't moan on 200 when you lose.
EDIT: Forgot to ask: What on earth is 'no risk HO'? 'No imagination HO' I could understand but playing chicken with heavily armed fighter aircraft certainly isn't risk free.
-
Does anyone fight anymore?
Does anyone fight anymore? Or do you all just run away
I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm more about trying to maintain some semblance of quasi-realism as I fly than "kill at all costs".
This means often means disengaging when I still have the upper hand, as the aircraft I fly nearly exclusively (F4U) has really one attribute - a good top speed.

As I recall, it was just in the last week that someone started an La7 contest, with the winner getting to choose next months plane.
I am sure it isn't the only reason for La7's in the game, I use them sometimes, not ashamed, not proud, but if a base is being beat up, I will often use a Lala to jump in with.

Here's a couple of my experiences over the past week or so.
One night I'm flying an FM2 in defense of an area of the map. It's been attacked pretty hard but not so hard that we (my countymen and I) can't defend it. I'm having a pretty good night landing multiple kills most flights. After about an hour the fight dries up and there is no one attacking these bases anymore (even though we were slightly outnumbered and for a while I've been one of a very few Bish left defending). In fact, near the end no one would come near me in my FM2. I was flying all over trying to get someone to attack me and no one would.
Another night I was defending a VB in a Hurri MkIIC. I was outnumbered but got a few kills. I ran out of ammo and flew away as the enemy just let me go!
These two prove that flying a slow plane doesn't nessesarily draw an attack.
Tonight I'm in a giant furball near one of our bases. The problem being I'm the only one and there's 10-20 enemys. I can see my countrymen (several of them) 5-6K away (closer to base) asking me what I'm doing and if I'm alone. Yep, pretty hot out here I reply. No one came to help that I saw. At least I got a couple kills before going down.
This shows that few are willing to go in "over their head" except a few crazies like me but hey, staying alive for 3-5 minutes out there made me feel pretty good about both my ability and my SA. This also shows the herd mentalities at work on both sides (offense and defense).
Finally, I need to say that I'm guilty of diving in with all the advantages and pulling out but it's usually because I started too high or dove in too steep and don't want to lose my momentum. I'll level or move into a slight climb then roll over and give it another try with a little less E but I usually do hate to give up a permanent alt advantage.
As to HO shots, ~90% of all players will take a HO shot in a one on one merge. Of those ~5% land a hit on me and ~1% actually do significant damage. HO's are easy to avoid and shouldn't be the source of whining that they are. Quit whining and learn to avoid them.
So, are all the good fights gone? No.
Are people more afraid to fight? It seems so but maybe in certain situations or with certain players they should be.
I'm not saying I'm the greatest pilot ever. Probably average at best. Just my take on it.
-
Partly I'm sure it's having the -1C here (we didn't in WB'S), but my experience is that people seem to be 3 times LESS likely to maneuver for the HO on the merge here as in my past experience. And I'm convinced that it's also in part because Hitech hasn't dumbed down the lethality of the guns to prevent - in fact, as I see people complaining of long distance kills, I'd like to remind them - reduce lethality and the HO becomes far more prominent.
Besides, I always merge assuming that the enemy is going to go for it, and it's my job to gain the angles while denying him the shot. In fact, I PREFER to have my opponent maneuvering for the HO on the merge, as he gives away as much as 90' of lead to me.
But ... if you and I are engaged in a knife fight and we've (both) blown it to where it's the only shot either one of us has, take it. I'm going to.
Grue

Jackie played Joe the bartender, Mr. Dunahey was the imagined patron of his bar. Fontain would always get Jackie to throw up his hands and yell ALRIGHT whenever Crazy would get into one of his endless loops discribing something.
Then Fontain would finaly untwist his face and start singing with a voice smooth as butter, he had some real talent.

Some of us choose to fight, Traize, albeit upon our own grounds.
I've memories of three fights that I consider worthy of mention. I did not
win all of these fights, but even if I had, I would still consider them worthy of mention.
Tonight, against Bronk, I lost a fight in my F4U-1A against his Me-262. I started the battle fighting 2 262s with a fellow Countryman, and we did well, 2 Corsairs against 2 262s, until a 3rd 262 joined the fray and picked off my Countryman. I continued fighting and evading and soon 2 262s left the fight and Bronk and I were alone. I was soon out of ammo and could only evade. Bronk pressed on and did get the kill upon me. It was quite a fight! Bronk!
Earlier this month I was flying CAP over a friendly base that was under attack by the Bishops. I managed to get a few kills, but there was a KI-84 who kept pressing me. I was on the deck by this time and knew that I should not engage a KI-84 in any kind of turn fight, especially while on the deck. I ran for home with the KI-84 following. I was in an F4U-1, probably to my good favor. Well, the KI-84 wouldn't let go of my six... and I was low on fuel...and really wanted to land my humble few kills. But! The KI-84 kept pressing me....until soon...as I looked at the map and saw neither friend, nor foe near us, it was time for me to fight the KI...and I reversed. The fight that ensued from this decision taxed every skill I had learned flying the Corsair! We fought from 2K to the deck and back up...neither of us relenting. There wasn't time to extend and get altitude...there was barely time to follow your opponent's move and counter it...down low, rolling scissors, flat turning...taking snapshots on the cross...and using the verticle. I got lucky on a crossing shot and the KI-84 went down. I did him on the 200 channel as he earned that recognition!
A few years ago...yes a few years...I was engaged by a YAK9U whilst flying an F4U-1D Corsair. I had done a very bad thing...I had bombed their base and taken out troops and ordnances, killed a defender, and was on the deck heading towards home. The YAK was not inclined to allow me this pleasure. Without repeating myself (please see above)...the YAK pressed. I had about 1 1/2 sectors to fly to land safely...and the YAK pressed me hard. I had to fight it on the deck. During the ensueing fight, the only shots fired were mine, well into the fight, and a crossing shot that hit the YAK in the cockpit area. We continued to fight, turning, extending low, and re-engaging. Dang! I really wanted to land my single kill and my bomb hits. I kept the YAK in sight and we sparred at bit more before he dipped a wingtip into the ocean. I was elated! I'd WON! Whoopee!! That is, I'd won until on Channel 1 (200 today) he salutes me and says that our fight has been the best fight he has had in years.
Think about it: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow! Think about it! My BEST three fights...Lost one, Won one, and got Lucky on the third.
If during my entire Aces High experience I never encounter the above experiences again, I will be the better for it, because at least I know these fights exist.
Patches

Ohh It was a great fight for sure.
I don't think I extended more than 2k at any time. The times I got 2 k away patches was grabbing E in the opposite direction. I actually was stall fighting at the end .
Wish I had film on for my heart was pounding at the end.
Patches for one of the most memorable fights I've ever had.

That's spoken like a Hurricane pilot. Try flying a heavy fighter; in a heavy fighter, avoiding a head-on shot when the other guy is a good gunner requires a disastrous expenditure of energy. For you, all you have to do is turn. Your airplane turns so well at any speed that the loss of energy is not a problem. With a heavy fighter, like a P-38, P-47, P-51, or FW-190, once your energy is gone you do not maneuver well. You must use your energy wisely, and dodging the head-on will ensure that you cannot out-maneuver him.
I duel a lot, and though the initial merge is aways cold, when we loop around guns are of course hot. Invariably we both end up with gun solution, and each is faced with a choice. For the longest time, I was the one who would make the energy sacrifice and dodge the shot, and the other guy would gain an advantage both because I wasted energy and because he kept pointing his nose at me while I did not. In addition, sometimes his shot would connect.
That does not happen anymore; I now shoot when I see him in my sights. It is as has been said before; if you fly defensively, thinking about how to avoid what the other guy is doing instead of thinking about how to attack him, you will lose. I dislike the head-on. I gun nearly as well as I fly, both being well above average, so the problem isn't a matter of losing. It's how the battle was decided. It is gunnery that decides it, not flying skill. However, I have no choice in the matter. To avoid the head-on in a heavy fighter while the other flier presses the head-on is to concede the fight, assuming that your opponent is a good shot and close to you in pilot skill.
If one man is a good enough shot, then no one can avoid his fire when the first man is facing the second. It does not matter what speed or angle the second flier is flying at. I have hit aircraft who were trying to dodge my attack when we were flying perpendicular to each other, both over three hundred miles per hour and with a good quarter mile between us. If you think you can always dodge a headon, then you are not flying against good enough gunners. And if, after dodging the headon, you do not find yourself floundering due to energy loss, you're probably in a light fighter.

I choose my fights.. when, where and how. I try to avoid allowing others the opportunity to do it for me, if I can help it.
Because I do not fight on your terms, does not mean I can't, or especially "do not" fight.

Lol, I got film of you "choosing" your fights bud. And I don't think taking 3 to 4 passes on a plane already engaged and missing puts you in a category of a "fighter"! LMAO! Better yet, lets do some duels in your jug or pony, maybe we can see your "style" of fighting. It will be co-alt of course, and 1 vs 1! LMAO! :aok

Tumor, as many of your squaddies(some I have known for a long time) tell me you're a good guy, then why do you think that it would be to prove something, to go to the DA and do a few duels! You obviously don't mind following me around the MA cherrypicking me! So why not lets have a fight where we have an even chance to start with?? Just a friendly offer bud! I just don't think you should come into a thread like this when I watched you run from me when I was at 8k and you were at 12k and talk about fighting! You didnt mind turning back when I engaged someone else, so is this what this thread is talking about?? Remember, just a friendly offer for a few good fights! :aok

No Skyrock... I don't like you and I want nothing whatsoever to do with you, other than expect you end your ankle-humping campaign like you said you would.
(P.S. I will post where I want, when I want... what you think about it really has 0 influence on my decisions... or gameplay for that matter).

BnZ fighting I can at least respect. People who continue to extend even when they have an alt advantage and are more than 3k out, only to turn back into you once you get bored of chasing them and break off I can't respect. Your "tactic" is to avoid a real fight and only engage when you can cherry pick. Defend it all you want, it's still pansy tactic. I don't understand what gratification someone gets by more or less boring people to death.
